Places To Go When Visiting Brooklyn, NY

A lot of people ask me "Why should I come to Brooklyn, Luke?"

My answer to them is "Why shouldn't you?"

There are a lot of things to do here!

Brooklyn Museum of Art

Located in central Brooklyn, the second-largest art museum in New York City, and one of the largest in the United States, it houses a prestigious collection of work from ancient Egyptian masterpieces to contemporary art covering almost every culture an art lover could dream of.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

A hot spot for proposals and weddings, the gardens are 52 acres of magnificent flora and fauna provide the perfect romantic background. In late spring, the well-known Cranford Rose Garden features tens of thousands of roses flowing down arches, climbing up lattices and standing in formal beds.

Prospect Park

Brooklyn's answer to Central Park, Prospect Park contains a zoo, an audubon center and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Its entrance is marked by the large Memorial Arch and it is a Mecca for families and nature lovers who go to play ball, bird watch and listen to outdoor concerts.

New York Aquarium

Explore the incredible range of aquatic wildlife at this Brooklyn aquarium, from beluga whales and walruses to sharks and seahorses.

New York Transit Museum

Brooklyn Academy of Music

This 26,000-acre park, on New York's harbor, has outdoor and indoor diversions.

Astroland Amusement Park (Coney Island)

New York City's largest amusement park features a variety of thrill rides like the historic Cyclone Roller Coaster, Water Flume, Dante's Inferno and Astrotower. It is open seven days a week during the summer and on weekends in the spring.

Keyspan Park

Home to the Brooklyn Cyclones, Keyspan Park is also known to host the occasional concert. Located on the historic Coney Island peninsula; visitors to this venue can also take in the shoreline boardwalk atmosphere that Coney Island is known for.

I love Brooklyn!  I live in Colorado now but lived on Jay Street for several years.  Some of my best memories are of Montague Street, Brooklyn Heights, DUMBO, Williamsburg.  Great food, great culture, great people.

I'm way out on the other coast and visited Brooklyn once, for a couple of days, but I don't think we saw any of these cool things. I guess it's just time for another visit!
