We only have 9 days to go until our Bike Event and 10 until the Golf Event. I can't believe how the time is flying. All of sudden things are happening very fast.
On Monday April 9thMayor Fred Costello of Ormond Beach, FL, is going to officially proclaim April 14th and 15th St. Jude Days. To quote a paragraph from the official letter that will be going out;
"I, Fred Costello, Mayor of the City of Ormond Beach, Florida, do hereby proclaim April 14-15, 2007, as the time to support the efforts of Rock On Productions, Bikes and Blues with Mickey Jones, and the Mickey Jones Celebrity Golf Classic for
ST. JUDE CHILDREN'S RESEARCH HOSPITAL
In the city of Ormond Beach and urge all citizens to join with me in support of these events and their efforts to ensure a huge success for a very worthy cause."
We now have 2 local TV news stations on board along with the Daytona News Journal and the Hometown News.
We've signed up 12 Golf Teams and have over 30 Hole Sponsors! Donations are rolling in at the same time!
We are well on our way to our goal of raising $70,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital!!
I know $70,000sounds like a lot of money, but stop and think about how much cancer treatment costs for just one small person. You hear people say they give to St. Jude every Christmas, Steve and I give monthly on top of this event. What Danny Thomas started and Marlo continues in his name, we need to help keep going. I'm almost willing to bet that $70,000 is barely enough to cover treatment for two children, not including their parents stay which St. Jude has accommodations for.
My KNOWN Schedule for the next 9 days is going to be busy:
Saturday I am going to take inventory of all the goodies that different companies have donated towards both events to go towards our auctions, raffles and contests. We've collected gift certificates from restaurants, sports outlets, tattoo shops, gyms, all sorts of local establishments. We've got hats, shirts, glasses, a golf bag and a couple clubs, golf balls and I don't know what else. I bet that will take me a good 4 hours to put together.
Mickey Jones arrives on Tuesday and we have our final Bikes and Blues Committee Meeting which he will attend along with a reporter and camera man from the Hometown news. They will be reporting on what we are doing and taking a group photo for their Friday the 13th edition of the Hometown News. (Color Even!)
Wednesday some of the committee members will get together and begin stuffing the goodie bags for the Golf Classic. We've had beautiful shirts made, every golfer will get one, along with the regular Golfer Goodies.
Thursday is open for last minute hurry up, stress out, and get it done stuff. :)!
Friday I am taking the day off from the office and meeting Mickey, Big Mike and Bubba
Baker at WHOG FM The Hog Radio Station to photograph the guys while
they cut up with the morning DJ's and have a good time on the air. The Hog streams live online, click here 95.7 FM and save to your favs, you'll laugh til you cry. Mickey and the fella's love to give Frank Scott a rough time about the bike he rode last year on the Bikes and Blues ride.
Mickey usually hits the air around 9am, keep an eye out for updates here on the time. I'm not sure what happens once we leave the radio station. Perhaps home for some rest because at 5:30 we have our Huge VIP Party. Lots of good food, Coca Cola and Budweiser. I wonder if Bud Select will be there??
Saturday at 800AM we all meet at the Iron Horse for the festivities. I wish all of you could be there, but I have plenty of photographers lined up. Sunday I will be at LPGA bright and early at 730AM for the shotgun start and get home around .. hmmm I wonder what time I will get home.
Whatever the case, between now and then, I probably won't have a lot of time to play in the rain, but I know that all of you that have supported me and my motley crew of golfers and bikers in this effort will be with us in spirit. Perhaps I should take Monday off too!! To Rest! Just reading all this has worn me out! I am so excited about the next 10 days, it's going to be an amazing time. When I get back online I hope to have some truly inspirational stories to tell all of you.
If you find yourself in the Volusia County Area the weekend of the 14th and 15th come by the Iron Horse or LPGA Legends Course and write a check to St. Jude Children's Hospital. You'll be glad you did!

Lysa, I wanna come, I would love to come down there, awesome. Hey, I have an idea...you can enjoy everything twice as much as you should to cover us not being there, deal? There we fixed that one. (we will miss you but you will be back soon) enjoy.
Lysa: I’d bike on over, but Harley won’t sell me one with training wheels! Good cause.
JayBob, I know you and Cyndi will be here in spirit! You got a deal!
Jay, Actually they do make convertibles for Harleys! They almost look like training wheels! Better yet, bring the Traveler! We'd love to have you and the gang!
Lysa
Aziz, thanks! It is contagious! I've got 3 of my C21 Associates on board the committee with me! :)
Lysa,
Great post!! You really are an activist aren't you? You have so many talents!! Keep up the charity support, you will reap great reward from that. Who is Mickey Jones and why does he look familiar? Thanks for sharing.
Good Day!! have a bottle of water and a smile on me :)
Hi Duayne, thanks for stopping by! I don't think I would call myself a activist, I think of myself as someone who cares and is doing something to make a difference in the world. Who is Mickey Jones? That is a question that gets asked a lot. Go to mickeyjones.com and your question will be answered. He looks familier because you probably remember him as part of the K & B construction crew on Home Improvement, but you will be amazed at his credits.
