Nestled at the confluence of the great Sacandaga and the mighty Hudson Rivers in the most northern part of Saratoga County is Hadley.

A place where once men and women harvested the tall pines for logging, and constructed gristmills and sawmills at Rockwell Falls and where farmers and their families cultivated the fields and tapped the maple trees, and the hotels and boarding houses met the needs of the vacationers as did the Adirondack Railway and, the freight cars served the wooden factory, paper mill, and tannery.

A major influence on our town was the flooding of the Sacandaga River creating a 29-mile long Great Sacandaga Lake with two power plants, one with a capacity of 30,000 kilowatts. While boaters and water skiers enjoy the Great Sacandaga Lake others may enjoy viewing eagles from the overlook, or whitewater rafting, or playing golf, or hiking the 2,653-foot summit of Hadley Mountain to reach the reconstructed fire tower. From there a spectacular view of the high peaks of the Adirondacks and the Catskill Mountains as well as the Green Mountains of Vermont may be observed.

Linking the Sam Smead Memorial Park and the Hadley Historic Rivers Trail to the day park on Dean Mountain Road is our Historic Bow Bridge; where one can observe from a gazebo the rafters and kayakers riding the best whitewater in New York State.
