Nestled at the foot of South Mountain in Washington County lies the town of Boonsboro, Maryland.  Initially named Boonesborough, Boonsboro was named after two brothers, George and William Boone, who once owned the land where the town now sits. Boonsboro is located near the Frederick County boundary and near the Antietam Battlefield northeast of Sharpsburg.
