Why Sherwood Oregon

I'm a fairly recent addition to Sherwood and am proud to say that I love living here. I grew up in a small town in Southern Oregon and have spent over 15 years in Seattle and Portland. So I know big cities and little ones. Sherwood has the benefits of a small town with the proximity to Oregon's largest city.

After getting married and having a child, my wife and I discovered that our town-home in West Linn was no longer adequate. We had 2 dogs, a cat and a growing little boy. What we needed was a house with a yard. We agreed that we wanted to stay in the South Portland are and really liked the Tualatin. After looking at several houses we made an offer just a little to late to be accepted.

My wife got lost one evening and discovered Sherwood. We drove around and explored some. We decided that we really liked the small town charm. After looking at a few homes we selected the one we are currently in and have fallen in love with our neighborhood. It's nice sitting on our deck watching the birds and squirrels. We have a territorial view that includes a distant Mt. St Helens. Our neighborhood is a combination of older and newer homes with lots of mature trees. We are close enough to downtown that we can easily walk there.

There are several outstanding parks nearby, including, Stella Olsen with it's summer concerts and films, Tualatin River National Wildlife Sanctuary an award winning refuge within an urban area, and the Magness Memorial Tree Farm with a wonderful hike within minutes of home.

Sherwood has several festivals that are fun and unique, including the Robin Hood Festival, Crusing Sherwood, the Onion Festival, Music on the Green and the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony

After moving here we found out that the school system is excellent, both academically and athletically. The YMCA is outstanding and has an amazing amount of stuff for a little boy.

More then anything, we like the fact that we can be a positive part of our community and that our impact can be felt.
