Fort Harrison State Park Has Many Things To Do - Visit Indianapolis

Located on the North-east side of Indianapolis, Fort Harrison State Park has a little bit of something for everyone. The 1700-acre park features walking and jogging trails, picnic sites, fishing access to Fall Creek and two national historic districts.

If you like horseback riding, then you will want to visit The Saddle Barn. There's trail rides, lessons, hayrides and even parent assisted rides for the younger children.

Fort Harrison State Park includes one of the largest tracts of unbroken hardwood forest in Central Indiana, several small lakes, three and one-half miles of Fall Creek and its tributaries, trails and picnic areas.

Fort Benjamin Harrison was a U.S. Army post. Its name coming from the 23rd President Benjamin Harrison. Land was purchased in 1903, with the post officially being named for President Harrison in honor of Indianapolis being his hometown.
