Move over Betsy Ross the Quilters are coming to town!

If you've never been to a quilt show, you're missing out. This is an art form at it's best. The Carquines Strait Stitchers have organized their biannual Quilt Show. It's a colorful display of quilting in it's many beautiful forms. Quilts, wearable arts, fabrics, books, classes, vendors, food and fun. It really is a great show! It's coming to Benicia at the historic Clocktower Saturday, May 5th from 10 - 5 p.m., and Sunday May 6th from 10 - 4 p.m. In case you haven't been there before. the address is 1189 Washington St., Benicia, CA.

The featured artist this year is Marcia Stein. Textile artists put on the best demonstrations. I haven't seen Marcia myself, but I've heard some very good things about her, and I can't wait to see her in person.

I do have a personal favorite quilt that will be there this year, it was crafted by the tallented Roberta DeLuz. This quilt was put together using T-shirts from annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life cancer fundraiser events. The creativity displayed in her creation is awesome. I happened to be the lucky winner of the raffle to which she donated the quilt to last year. The colors are great, and the quilt now has it's own special wall for showcasing it in my guest/sewing room.

Thanks for your comments Melanie.  I had already given up my quilt to be set up for the show when I decided to write about it, so I don't have it handy to photo.  I may get a chance when I go to the show tomorrow.  The photos I posted were taken by Roberta.  I like to include a photo if I can, especially when it's something like this that can be really appreciated.  Have you seen the show before?

No I ahve not seen the show.  I love quilts and have quite a few old ones from the Midwest.  Maybe I should stop by!!  Again thanks for this information.

If you enjoy quilits you should definitely go by tomorrow.  They have open studios as well so there is a lot to do this weekend.  I thoroughly enjoyed the show.  The had a great set up.  The quilts were absolutely inspiring. The food was catered so I had lunch there and it was great.  The featured artist Marcia stein was delightful, and talk about talent.  Her work is exquisite!!!  I felt so bad that my camera battery died at the show.  I was really looking forward to getting a photo for you.  If all goes well one of the other ladies is going to email me one, but it might take a little bit of time.  Hope you have fun tomorrow whatever you do.

hey, sorry I missed this one, little out of my sandbox but I would have loved to seen the pictures.  we haven't met yet but hopefully will get to cross paths a bit here in the rain.  I started a new group to show off the creative side of our selves.  this would have been a great post to add there (If you want to edit and sumit to our group that would be fine with me.)  I had been thinking of doing this for awhile but not gotten around to it.  we get to post to five groups so add this as one when you are doing community or personal quilt/craft/etc... type stuff.  thanks  be good  cheryl

Cheryl - Thanks for stopping by to say hi.  It's amazing to see that a comment comes through here a year after the fact!  I will check out your new group site and will try to revamp my posting to submit to your group.  I also just got my quilt back, it was on tour for convention for awhile with the artist who made it, so I'll try to do a post about it and my friend who put it together. She actually wrote a book about how to make quilts out of T-shirts, and my quilt is on the front cover!  How fun......... talk to you later.

Linda, I love quilts (my 'other' life) and thought we post about local stuff, why not have a group so I can see what is going on in other parts of the country.  I haven't had time to write very much yet but will start adding a post here and there and encourage others too also.  There are a lot of good groups on AR and instead of just getting lost, we can now see all the prettys in one place.  be good  cheryl
