NAR Strikes Back

I wanted to share this info from http://www.realtor.org/ As you all know CBS's 60 minutes program last night attacked tragitional Realtors. NAR's rebuttel points our several errors the TV magazine released as truth. I think NAR did a good job rebutting this but it should be on a much larger public scale. I bet Fox news would jump at the chance to put CBS in their place and show how they release fiction as facts. It is very sickening but the liberal left wing media does this continuously. I hope this incident goes to show how they spin a story to appear the way they chose and a large majority of Americans drink the cool-aid like the good little sheep they are.

Here are some of the point that NAR Makes.

1. CBS says the 6% commission is "sacrasanct" what ever that big word means.

NAR response. - All commission rates are negotiable. If fact the national averare is 5.1%

2. CBS says NAR is the industries governing body.

NAR respomse - NAR is a trade association and does not govern the industry. "Y'all no the state commissions govern us right?"

3. In 2003 NAR introduced rules of it's own that threatened to block internet discounters access.

NAR response - As long as you are members of the local MLS' they are not blocked from anything

4. The MLS is a database that lists nearly every home in the country. "I think y'all can see through this one"

NAR response- There is no such thing as a national database. Each board or association has there own mls that is a means for brokers to privatley exchange information and  cooperate and compensate each other.

5. CBS claims that eight states have minumum service requirements that require Realtors to provide a minumum level of services to their clients that the discounters can't afford to do. "Hey if they can't afford it maybe they should be charging more and what is so wrong about reqiring agents to proform cetant things for clients.

6. The brokerage industry has a powerful lobby and 11 states have a no rebate law.

NAR Response - The no rebate laws are designed to protect consumers from kickbacks and other bad practices.

NAR Response- Realtors is a trademark name and should never be used synonymously with real estate agents.

I think overall NAR did a good job coming back with what the did. It needs to be on a much bigger scale though.
