Bullhead City, AZ

I HAD to get away for a bit . . . busy day and poor Luna needed a walkie and some fun. So we went to the 'puppy store' (our local Petsmart) and she had a little tete-a-tete with one of the guinea pigs . . .

Most of the critters are a little squeamish to see this sweet but formidable-looking face staring from the other side of the glass . . . and they usually scare off and hide.

But this little darling wanted to hang out and see what Lulu had to say . . .

I think they swapped cell numbers . . .

Luna can't wait to hand out treats to the trick or treaters who stop by her house . . . she is a TrueBlood fan so her costume is a vampire queen getup, like Queen Sophie-Anne.

She didn't have to pick up a set of fangs. Some things work out like that, you know . . .

It's a gorgeous night along the beautiful Colorado River. High temp was 83 today and the winds have died down to a mellow Fall breeze.

So come on over kiddies of all ages, and pick up a treat!

You may not know this, and I didn't until I acquired hydroelectric engineers as clients (could you imagine having husband and wife engineers as clients? They were and are favorites of mine. They run a water company in Oregon now)...

...but the water levels on the Colorado River in Bullhead City, AZ fluctuate as water is released from Davis Dam, just north of Bullhead City, AZ into the river, according to estimated need for

• Irrigation
• Recreation

In other words, the engineers determine how much water will be needed at different times of day for electricity, watering crops and to keep y'all's propellers out of the sand! :)

Depending on where along the beautiful Colorado River, you'll see people with metal detectors scouring for treasures or the keyring they lost (good luck with that!), lawn chairs planted with toes in sand...

or even locals like me and Lulu enjoying the cool sand for a morning 'sniffy walk'...

Oriol's Mexican Restaurant in Bullhead City, AZ 86442 is one of the locals' favorite spots for food and cocktails from south 'o border! Good food, good drinkies and awesome fast service. You can pop in for a lunch hour and still have time to enjoy yourself if you don't take too long to order (there are many great selections so you could have trouble there!)

Oriol's was originally located where Rooster's Cafe was, at Mohave Drive and Highway 95. When the beautiful Mohave Village Center went up last year, just a block east at Mohave Drive and Miracle Mile (across from Walmart Supercenter) Oriol's moved into a new building.

The new 20 is gorgeous inside with a great bar and comfy booths. (I snapped the pics right after opening so it's usually a LOT more populated!)

My FAVORITE menu item is the Gringo Burrito (although their homemade tamales are a close second!)Feast your eyes:

Ground beef with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese and sour cream for filling, topped with red chili sauce and I add jalapenos. Perfect for the days when relishing life takes precedence over watching cholestrol and waistline!

Wash that puppy down with a Pacifico and shot of Patron and good to go! (with a designated driver of course!)
