Wine Tasting in the Prescott, Arizona Area

Paula Smith, Prescott Arizona CDPE, CRS, SFR: Real Estate Agent in Prescott, AZ

Wine Tasting in the Prescott Arizona area is not impossible!

Grapes grow well in this area and I have been seeing private mini vineyards popping up. I have a neighbor with a Shiraz mini vineyard. Even I have my own cabernet grapes growing!

Winery

Hailing from Sonoma County California, I have enjoyed weekend tastings and I have entered a grape stomp or two. Being native to the wine country of Sonoma County I was surprized to find vineyards in the high desert. I thought moving to Arizona meant giving up beaches, fresh fish, sour dough bread and wine. Wrong! I only gave up the sand of the beaches!

I was surprized to find that the little town of Chino Valley where I moved to, has a wonderful organic winery! Not only do they have a wonderful organic winery but they have, picnics, weddings, catering, summer jazz and October Music Fest! And I live 3 miles away! Granite Creek Vineyards is about 20 miles north of Prescott in the rural town of Chino Valley. For those who have trouble with sulfites, you will be able to enjoy this sulfite free wine.

I can't wait to enjoy the live music series, a glass of organic wine and savor gourmet foods on their estate lawns, every Saturday during the fall, starting today!

Going Local, Fresh from Chino Valley, Arizona

Paula Smith, Prescott Arizona CDPE, CRS, SFR: Real Estate Agent in Prescott, AZ

Chino Valley Arizona is a little piece of paradise for country lovers. Known for years as the horse community of Yavapai County and the best pinto bean area since the depression, Chino Valley is still a small town where you can see the stars at night.

Most of Chino Valley is on 1-2+ acre parcels. Since about 1995 the town has added some high density areas close to the center of town, however the community is adamant about keeping the rural feeeling here. No street lights and no big box stores. We still only have one grocery store and a Wallgreens. Pretty small town for a girl coming from San Francisco!

Streets are laid out on a grid of 3,2,1 Center, 1.2.3. Just a little booring. As you drive thru town at 45 mph it is easy to notice changes. Well one day we had a new sign go up.Then,..... last night I passed this man on the highway waving his fresh local corn in the air.

"Going Local" Art Gallery and Produce

Chino Valley going Local

Well being an "organic foodie" with 24 free range chickens, 24 producing tomato plants, 30 beautiful red bell pepper plants a field of cucumbers, onions, beets, tomatillos, berries, grapes, and full organic herb garden on my 2.5 acres, I just finally had to see what this new place in Chino was all about.

Chino Going Local

Wow, was this fun! I have a new place I can shop for my organic stuff. And last minute gifts,.... now I might be able to keep my tax dollars in Chino! I love supporting local artists and farmers.

Happy Shopper

Geraldine Husted from Prescott Valley was a "happy shopper" buying fresh pears and a huge bag of local tomatoes.

Local artists gifts

And the gift shop gives us 'small town folks' the opportunity to support our local artists and proudly give a unique gift to a friend.

What a fun place to have in our town of Chino Valley. A unique business, growing our community and yet keeping it 'small hometown"

First Time Homebuyers Just Closed

Paula Smith, Prescott Arizona CDPE, CRS, SFR: Real Estate Agent in Prescott, AZ

First time homebuyers are one of the best parts of being a Realtor . They are so excited and so willing to listen and learn. Also, they appreciate so much.

My current couple is closing today. They are young and very responsible. She worked hard and put herself thru nursing school while raising their young son. She had a plan that after she finished school she was buying a house. She found me on the internet and we began a great friendship and home search.

She knew her budget and had already been to the lender to get qualified. We only looked at houses a few days and she was ready to make an offer. We made an offer on a house they all liked. Two days later they were worried. Some issues came up and she wanted out. We were able to cancel that contract and the next day..... the perfect house came on the market!

I helped them buy a dream home with granite counters, three car garage, incredible master suite, like new, on over 1 acre for only $148,000! Even got the seller to pay $4300 in closing costs! She now has a fantastic home where her little boy can hunt frogs, climb a tree, play in the dirt and learn to ride a bike with little worry about cars. A dream country home that is better than anything we thought we would ever find!

Congratulations to Eric and Kayla on their first new home!
