No Really, This Happened! Making Humor out of a Flagstaff Nightmare.

A few weeks ago I received a phonecall from a gentleman in Tucson. He and his wife had just sold a second home. They had cash to spend - up to about One Million. Could I help them find a home in Flagstaff?

Are you KIDDING ME?

This wonderful couple had a strong idea of their needs and desires. They were a pleasure. So we three and the dog set about to view Flagstaff properties.

Although they had provided me a list of top choices, there was a property not on their list that I knew I HAD to show them.

I took them to the property I had in mind. They loved it. They adored it. They furnished it on the spot, choosing which pieces they would bring and which would stay home.

I escorted them to my office where we wrote our cash offer. Yes, it was low - but today, a low offer for a home priced at $975,000 is welcomed with a song, dance and hallelujah, given the painfully few sales we have had in Flagstaff in that price range.

The Sellers countered. The Sellers' pressing problem was that their accountant was out of town, and with the brand new idea of doing a 1031 exchange perking happily in their heads, the Sellers were not sure EXACTLY what they could agree upon as a bottom line.

My Buyers had three days to respond, day three being the day the accountant returned. Although they pooh-poohed the Sellers' counter price and were primed to negotiate, they wanted the house! And they had CASH!

Then, the unthinkable occurred. The unimaginable. Can you guess?

Unable to find their 1031 exchange property, the Sellers took their home off the market. In a flash, the dream home of my Buyers was gone.

My Buyers were literally devastated. They had not only furnished this home but they had planned the next five years of holidays with the kids and grandkids. They built the dog a new dog run and smelled the beautiful moist air around them at sunrise for years to come.

However, we have a happy ending. My Buyers called me to let me know that they found a great home in SANTA FE, a home that, as of our last phonecall, was still on the market during inspection period.

The Secret Behind the Secret

Be HappyBefore I became a Realtor, I was (among many other things) heavily involved in the healing arts. The Healing Arts includes a vast group of practices, and my focus was on "energy healing" - the ability to read, interpret, understand, empath and tune into energy as a way of conceiving and acting in reality. In other words, I spent a lot of time learning about and focusing on "the unseen" as a way to better my experience in the world of "the seen" - physical presence.

The Secret has exploded across the globe. It's forte, I believe, is encapsulating age-old spiritual wisdom in a time-relevant and very digestible pill. We, the people of the planet, are ready to start listening to the way positive thought can create positive realities. We are ready to start believing that thoughts actually generate propellants to our realities, that we are not mere victims of circumstance, and we can't run around angry, negative and grim expecting wonderful things to happen.

However, there is one thing that kind of bugs me about the way The Secret is bandied about. In my learnings, and in my opinion, you can think a billion positive thoughts and have nothing positive happen. The Secret to the Secret, and the topic often left behind, is how you FEEL.

If I stand in the mirror and tell myself that I will be rich and abundant this month, yet ignore that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach that is actually saying - "You have GOT to be kidding.... YOU???", it really won't matter how many times I repeat my thought.

If I focus on bringing in wonderful new clients, imagining what they wear, what they will buy, the perfume they waft through the room... but my chest tightens with fear as I subconsiously remember that there really are NO buyers out there.... I may not have the results I think I deserve.

So the Secret to the Secret, in my opinion? FOCUS ON WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD! Be aware in every moment possible of the things that create positive feelings. The beautiful sunrise, how the kids are incredibly cute today, how the dog makes you laugh, that great color of lipstick you always loved, a funny look on your partner's face...the snow... anything in the moment that is positive for you.

And with those real feelings of happiness, appreciation, wonder, joy, beauty, hope, or general positiveness, CREATE A REAL THOUGHT THAT YOU BELIEVE IN, THAT YOU CAN ALSO FEEL GOOD ABOUT, and think it. In that moment of feeling good, create a new thought that you can feel good about and keep that positive feeling alive! From the great expansion of your good feelings, keep generating more and more, until you really can believe in the abundance, the new clients, and the wealth.

Flagstaff's Beautiful Snow is Here!

Eileen Schreiber, ABR, EcoBroker, Flagstaff, AZ: Real Estate Sales Person in Flagstaff, AZ

While Flagstaff is known as a second home community for heat-exhausted residents of the Valley, Vegas, and parts of California, our snowy season is among the most beautiful of times. Dramatic skies, white, glistening snow and green trees create stunning visuals.

When the snow falls, people from all over Arizona arrive with skis, sleds, snowboards and innertubes in tow. The smallest hills become covered with gleefully giggling children. The Flagstaff Nordic Center and the Arizona Snowbowl are teeming with skiiers and snowboarders. Those of us who are content to walk can enjoy the pristine white snowscapes and clear blue skies.

Here are two photos taken on the first blue-sky day after our three day snowstorm. How lucky we are to live in Flagstaff!
