In Louisiana, they say "Laissez les bons temps rouler" which is Cajun for "Let the good times roll" and it usually involves food and drink and probably music.
In Phoenix we say Baby Kay's Cajun Kitchen because it means good food, good drink and good times. Located in the Town & Country Shopping Center, on the edge of the Biltmore area of Phoenix, Baby Kay's is authentic Cajun Cuisine.
And by authentic I mean recipes that can be traced back to their Cajun /Creole roots. I havn't had everything on the menu but what I've had has been wonderful. If you close your eyes when you're eating the Crawfish Etouffee with dirty rice, (pictured), you'd think you were in a small family restaurant in New Orleans. At Baby Kay's Cajun Kitchen the Catfish, Gumbos, Pork Chops with brown onion gravy and Lulu's Famous Fried Chicken are excellent. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very casual. The patio area is my favorite, unless there is live music, then I have to be closer to the music.
There are Specials everyday during the week, with their famous Crawfish Boils on Wednesday nights during the season. If you are looking for a great beer that goes well with Cajun food try the Turbo Dog, originally only available in Louisiana. For more info check out Baby Kay's Cajun Kitchen website babykayscajunkitchen.com
On several visits there has been live music and in the true "NOLA" tradition meaning I'm not sure if or how they schedule.
If Baby Kay is in the house tell her Nancy Laswick sent you and let the good times roll!

I was between appointments in the Biltmore area of Phoenix last week and needed a little “snack.” I pulled into the shopping center at 32nd and Camelback and saw a sign for Revo Burrito. Since I am a fan of burritos, I was out of the car and in the restaurant in a snap!
I was impressed with the exterior of the restaurant as it featured a takeout window and there was a real person standing there to serve me. They also have a five minute parking spot in front and take phone takeout orders.
I decided to go in as I wanted to see more of the restaurant. I was surprised and pleased as the décor is absolutely delightful. They have stools at a bar for quick dining and a few tables set up for four people. All the food is prepared fresh to your taste. And, for those looking for some fun, they serve special Margaritas and Mexican beers. It doesn’t get any better than this!
I was greeted warmly by the staff and they went over the menu to point out the wide variety of choices. Since I only wanted a small snack, they obliged by serving me a half order of a chicken taco that was one of the best I’ve had. The chicken is obviously freshly cooked; the tortilla was so soft and tasty. I enjoyed every bite.
Oh, did I mention they have gluten free and vegetarian options? More and more people are finally waking up to the fact that “gluten free” can be quite tasty. But, it takes a great chef to blend the flavors, and I’m willing to bet that Revo’s can handle it.
In addition to Revo Burrito, the owner also runs Delux Burger, in the same shopping complex. I haven’t tried Delux as of yet, but look forward to it based on my experience at Revo.
Two cuisines – all in the same shopping mall – I am looking forward to going back and trying something new.
