About Tempe's Camelot Village

Paradise Bakery Coming to South Tempe

Nick Bastian Tempe, AZ Real Estate Agent: Real Estate Agent in Tempe, AZ

Work has begun on the space rumored to be a new Paradise Bakery location at McClintock and Guadalupe in South Tempe within the “Camelot Corner.”

Work beginning at South Tempe Paradise Cafe

You may wonder why Paradise would want to be so close to the very popular Wildflower Bread company directly across the street. The location seems to sit well with most though as the “competition” can be good for both companies. These two centers, along the south side of Guadalupe Road at McClintock Drive, are VERY popular with Tempe residents.  Living near by, I can attest to the convenience of walking to the grocery store, Pei Wei, Starbucks, Mac’s Broiler and Tap, Changing Hands Book Store, Trader Joe’s, Baskin Robbin’s and so many other great restaurants, shops and conveniences located here.

Residents of nearby neighborhoods of Camelot Village, Round Valley Estates, Camelot Park Villas, Optimist Park and the many other great communities will soon have another cool place to hang out.

The recent opening of the Habit Burger has gone very well. I’m sure the nearby neighborhoods will welcome another popular addition to the area.

Camelot Village 4th of July

Nick Bastian Tempe, AZ Real Estate Agent: Real Estate Agent in Tempe, AZ

The annual Camelot Village 4th of July party was once again a great success. The neighborhood looks forward to this parade each year and it is cool to see so many people from the area come together to celebrate together. This year, the parade was held on the 3rd of July which will give all of us more time for family and friends on the 4th. :)

I’ve talked before about the “Camelot Corner” and about how much we love this area. While this is mainly a Camelot Village parade, some of our neighbors from the surrounding area sometimes participate which is another thing that makes for a great community. We are also fortunate to have support from our local police and fire departments as they typically send an officer and a fire truck to ride in our parade.

As you can see below, I tried to do a short video to give people a feel for what the parade is like. Unfortunately, I am not the greatest “video guy” and it turned out more Blair Witch than I would have liked. I tried to shoot with a small hand held camera while walking in the parade and some ( ok, a lot ) of it is kind of choppy. The video is only a couple of minutes and some of it won’t make you dizzy. :) Even though I am not Steven Spielberg, you should get an idea of how this small Tempe neighborhood comes together each year on the 4th.

Each year, Camelot Village residents gather in a church parking lot that is within the community. The parade begins once we are gathered, the fire truck and police “escort” arrives and the kids all line up with bikes decorated in full July 4th glory. Occasionally, people will decorate cars, ATV’s, old trucks etc and drive along in the parade. We walk through the neighborhood where some residents line the streets to waive, throw candy etc. The parade ends at Stroud park which is “our” community park where we have music, cook food, play games and have some fun. The fire department will often park their big truck at the park and the kids always have fun with that. For food, many people bring a dish to share and we always have someone grilling burgers / hotdogs etc. My kids LOVE the snow cone machine that it set up. I think one of the twins had 3 snow cones. :) Neighboring businesses and some residents usually donate items for a fun raffle and the funds are used for more community events etc. Big thanks to Mac’s Broiler and Tap for their generosity. The owners are really nice people from our community and they make some mean grub!

The map below shows the area that I call the Camelot Corner. Camelot Village is the larger of the neighborhoods listed and is in the approximate middle of this community. The red dots represent some of the neighboring businesses.

Camelot Village celebrates the 4th of July!

Tempe Arizona has a ton of great communities and offers many different types of housing options. Camelot Village in South Tempe is a place where neighbors know your name and the sense of community is alive year round.

The annual Camelot Village 4th of July parade and picnic is what the 4th of July is all about. Neighbors gather and have their own parade through the subdivision with flags a flyin' and horns a blowin.' The Tempe Fire Department sends a truck for the morning festivities as well. Kids of all ages enjoy a good old fashioned celebration which ends up at Stroud Park where the grill is fired up, neighborhood businesses pitch in to offer raffle prizes and everyone has a chance to relax and have a good time. Stroud Park is located just East of McClintock Drive and just South of Guadalupe Road. The 101 Freeway is to the East providing residents easy access to the entire valley.

The parade starts at 9:00am and is a perfect start to the day. Afternoons can be spent by the pool and the evening can be spent watching the amazing Tempe Fireworks show at Town Lake.

Camelot Village Neighbors have a lot to G.A.I.N

Nick Bastian Tempe, AZ Real Estate Agent: Real Estate Agent in Tempe, AZ

Tempe has a ton of wonderful and diverse communities. From horse property to ultra luxury urban communities and just about everything in between.

Saturday, October 18th is "G.A.I.N" night which stands for Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods and is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness in neighborhoods. Lori and I will once again be joining several of our neighbors in participating in this fun event with our kids at Stroud Park in Tempe. The Camelot Village Neighborhood Association is involved and they describe the night as a partnership effort between the Tempe Police Department and Neighborhood Watch Programs, Neighborhood Associations and Apartment Communities. During G.A.I.N. residents lock their doors, turn on the their porch lights and spend the evening outdoors with their neighbors.

Camelot Village is just one of the great neighborhoods near the park and just a small sample of the Tempe lifestyle. We walk to Stroud Park often and enjoy the playground, basketball hoops, large grass areas and of course the kids love the "sea shells" along the canal. Come on over and join us on the 18th for GAIN! There will be food and a lot of fun people to hang out with. Feel free to bring a dish to share or to just come check it out!

In case you are curuius, I have enclosed some information on a few of the homes available in this area. Of course, to search the mls for other homes in Tempe or any place else in the valley, you can do so on our web site! :-)
