Just opposite the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum is the trailhead for the King Canyon Trail. It's one of Tucson's easiest hikes, as the first mile of the upper trail follows an old mining road. The desert wildflowers can be seen in abundance right now.

Who can identify this one? I don't know what it is.

I've lived in the desert for the past 14 years, and every year brings a new discovery. I haven't been able to identify this plant. It has a reclining growth pattern, and the flower is about 1 1/4" across.

(Maybe you know what it is; please help me identify it.)

Wordless Wednesday -Arizona Wildflowers In Bloom All Over Tucson!

Gabrielle Kamahele Rhind, Broker/Owner: Real Estate Sales Person in Tucson, AZ

Arizona wildflowers are blooming early this year - driving around today on errands - I stopped to take several cell phone photos of some of the beauty in the desert:

Arizona has a wide variety of plants due to its climate, varied topography, variety of habitats, and its location from the desert floor to higher evaluations up on Mt Lemmon.

This is the best time to see many wildflowers! It did come a little early this year – near February – but the typical season is between March and May.

There is a summer wildflower season from late July through early September and other types of wildflowers begin blooming here in October as the weather cools a bit, and they will continue blooming until late November.

For the most part, because of the temps, wildflowers can be observed here in lower elevation desert areas almost all year-round.

St Patrick's Day is Coming to O'Shaughnessy's Steakhouse and Song Hall

St Patrick's Day is Coming to O'Shaughnessy's Steakhouse and Song Hall

St Patrick's Day is Coming to O'Shaughnessy's Steakhouse and Song Hall

If you've a WEE bit of Irish in ye', you might be thinking of downing the corned beef and cabbage at the yearly EVENT at O'Shaughnessy's Steakhouse and Song Hall.

It's not your average experience - irish drinks, irish coffee, irish singers...and those that wish they were.

In the last years before my marriage to my wonderful husband, I bar-tended for "fun" at this out of the way place. My mother had visited the establishment with friends and thought I should come along to join the fun.

After 2 glasses of wine, yes...I was quite nervous...up I got to sing with the pianist and entertain the other diners a bit. I think I chose something easy...probably vintage Olivia Newton-John and Barbra Streisand...but it took only moments for the owner to come by the table and ask about my bar-tending skills. Next thing I knew I was singing part-time and pouring drinks on the weekends for Sam and his restaurant crew.

It was a fun couple of years, but I've moved clear across town now...it takes over 45 minutes to get to the Songhall from our home. But, every once in a while we stop in for a song and a dinner.

So I was surprised to find an email asking for help this week, and I really only deliberated for...5 minutes. I haven't sung in years...but I'm sure I can still bar-tend.

And..recollecting the arm-twising skill of the owner, I'm bringing my old song sheet and music chords just in case.

If you're looking for some good old fashioned fun come March 17, I invite you to O'Shaughnessy's for their Irish fest. Here's an easy map and reviews of the place!

My mother celebrated her 75th birthday there on March 16 five years ago and her friends are still talking about it.

Stop in for a wee bit o' cheer!

I'll pour your beer for ya!

300,000 Points and Just Getting Started

300,000 Points and Just Getting Started

This blog posting is going to take me over the 300,000 mark here in Active Rain and I've done a lot of thinking about blogging and Active Rain lately. In fact, much more thinking than posting!

At the end of January I switched brokerages to join a Long Realty Branch not 10 minutes from my home. Long Realty captures the lions' portion of Market Share here in metropolitan Tucson, and I'm hoping it adds to the real estate recipe I've been cooking up for about 18 months now.

Wisconsin and Family

So with the brokerage transfer, Long Academy (2 weeks of classes) Long Realty Open House Month (I tied for first place with most open houses in my branch - 16 of them) a sorely hurt back, and visiting my newest Grand-child in Green Bay, WI...blogging took a back seat. I did TRY to get something in, but my numbers are down for 2012.

Nevertheless, I'm hitting a milestone today and I'm thankful for many things.

One - a fantastic, skilled chiropractor by the name of Dr. David Welch. I've gone from unable to take three steps to gardening... (limited time, but still!!) I went to him for three reasons...1. I didn't want a pill to take the pain away. 2. I know his children - they are friends with my daughter, and they are JOYFUL. (what a legacy!) 3. Reviews...all good.

Two - blogging. Blogging changed my life. Lifting me out of a mental low back when business was a bit slow a year ago last summer - I am happy to say that leads and referrals from Active Rain professionals make up the bulk of my new business. Like the spokes of a wheel, blogging enfuses my sphere of influence and social media with google energy and the results have been simply amazing.

Three - networking. There are so many people I could name for so many reasons, but these folks are some of my most constant blog post commenters...and I'm thankful for them. They can brighten even a Tucson sunny day with their words of encouragement and support. If you aren't familiar with them, check out their blog posts today.

If you're wondering whether or not blogging is for you, or whether it's worth the time investment to put into your business plan...do a little homework here on Active Rain. Referrals, information, networking...so many reasons to put your own two cents worth down on paper.

Before you know it, you'll be greeting your own business milestones.

At 300,000 points I'm sitting here knowing I've got two months of BACK information I'd love to share, and so--o-o many people and blogs to re-acquaint myself with this March and on through the year. Back to Dr. Welch again, I'm glad to not only be able to do a spot of gardening, but also to sit and type at a computer and...show houses!

Spring has sprung here in Tucson - I'll be out sharing photos and market snapshots starting right here at 300,000 points. For those not acquainted with the "point" system - you get about 200-220 points with a posting...25 points a comment left on a blog, up to ten a day. It's more complicated than that - but that's it in a nutshell. Points allow you to lower your monthly subscription, rise high on the state logrolls and become visible to other professionals and fellow blog readers, AND...grow your google juice.

See ya'll here in the Rain...and thanks so much for supporting one of the very BEST business choices I've ever made...blogging.
