Happy Victoria Day! Celebration at the Burnaby Village Museum

Happy Victoria Day! Celebration at the Burnaby Village Museum

Today is May 23rd, Victoria Day, a day to celebrate Queen Victoria's birthday. What better way than to head down to the Burnaby Village Museum, a recreation of a turn-of-the-century village. Today, the village was festooned with union jacks, in honour of Queen Victoria and our British heritage. The streets were alive with Morris Dancers, Mapole Dancers, and the Seymour Artillery in full regalia. I hope you enjoy some photos of today's events. Just a reminder that admission to the Village Museum is free for all of 2011, in celebration of the Museum's 40th birthday.

Heritage Home Arts & Crafts Home Staging-Before & After Photos

Our Vancouver, B.C. home staging company, Exit Stage Right, was called in to home stage this charming arts & crafts bungalow, built in 1914. The home had beautiful bones, with wonderful, refinished wainscoting, lots of built-ins and nooks and crannies.

However, the house just needed a little icing on the cake. With all the woodwork, the home seemed a little dark and stark. We brought in some softness with flowers, lightened up the dark wood by adding light coloured cushions, brought in a bit of spring with a cream and bright green colour combination, and added glamour and bling with shiny accessories, such as mercury glass vases.

Sneak Peek at a Heritage House to be Staged to Sell

Sneak Peek at a Heritage House to be Staged to Sell

Home Staging Vancouver-Before Our company, Exit Stage Right, has been called in to stage this lovely, heritage home. I'm so excited to be staging this home for sale. I'm a huge lover of heritage homes. My own home was built in 1919, not old by Eastern standards, but pretty darn old for here in the West.

The home owner was telling me that this home was built in 1914. The home owner has lovingly restored this home over the past 11 years, and this has clearly been a labour of love. All the wainscotting has been completely restored and looks stunning. The floors are the original fir, and have been beautifully refinished.

There are nooks and crannies everywhere, and beautiful, original built-ins. The
Vancouver Home Staging - Before bathroom has been renovated, but in keeping with the style and age of the home, including a claw foot tub. There's a beautiful window bench, overlooking a stunning view of the North Shore mountains. The basement remains unfinished, but I would imagine could easily be turned into a suite.

My plan is to compliment and highlight the rooms with home staging accessories and artwork. I'll go with a transitional look, neither too old fashioned and traditional, nor too modern. There will be hits of "bling" and a cheery colour scheme throughout. I envy the lucky person who buys this special home.

Don't forget to check back to see the "after" photos, showing how we transformed this home from a swan into Queen of the Swans.
