Here's the article...
Weekly Women's MMA Wrap-Up | MMA Opinion
September 17th, 2009 by Yael Grauer
Welcome back to another edition of the weekly wrap-up, in which I attempt to put all the (verified) tidbits of female fighter information I find on the internets in digestable form.
STRIKEFORCE NEWS
According to an article by Loretta Hunt, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker announced that the two eight-woman tournaments (at 135 and 145 pounds) have been postponed until 2010.
Although there is no fficial word on negotiations with Erin Toughill (10-2-1), Strikeforce, has announced that up-and-comer Kerry Vera (1-0) has signed a four-fight deal with Strikeforce. Vera's debut pro fight was a unanimous decision win against Leslie Smith (1-1) at Bellator 7 this past May.
KEEP YOUR EYE ON ELENA REID
Elena "Baby Doll" Reid (3-0) has graced this column before, as I predict an incredibly bright future for her. A former WIBA and IFBA Women's Flyweight boxing champion, Reid is undefeated in MMA, won the Arizona State Kickboxing Title at age 17 and has an impressive boxing record of 19-5-6. Reid will be facing experienced Japanese fighter Masako Yoshida (16-14-5) in a title fight at Extreme Beatdown on October 24th.
ABU DHABI
Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (8-1) will be fighting at Abu Dhabi in the +60kg division. Also on the list of competitors is the undefeated Lethal Lana Stefanac (6-0) who very well might just destroy Cyborg on September 19th. Should be interesting. Although not all matches will be aired, ADCC will have a live PPV and VOD camera all the way from Barcelona, Spain. You can pay $19.95 up through September 20th ($24.95 afterwards) to watch select footage. For more information, log on to www.adcc2009.com.
SARAH MORAS
Amateur MMA fighter Sarah Moras is raisining money to get to England and spend some time training with the amazing Rosi Sexton (10-1).
Moras competed in the Tigerbalm grappling tournament in Vancouver, in which she won the first match by points and the second by triangle, winning the all ranks division with only 5 months of training. Moras has a 2-0 amateur record. She got 9 takedowns in her first bout and won by decision. Her second fight this past April lasted just over two minutes and she won by armbar.
If you live in Chilliwack, you can help support this up-and-comer in this incredible opportunity. A fundraiser party takes place at Industry on September 18th at 9:00pm. There will be a Texas mickey raffle and a 50/50 raffle. And if you're nowhere near Chilliwack, you can still send donations.
FIGHTING FOR THE RIGHT TO FIGHT
I'm not sure how I missed this amazing series of articles, having linked to others which are far more obscure. However, I have now seen these pop up all over the place and found them to be an amazingly accurate account of both the challenges faced in women's MMA and the headway that has been made.
Fighting For the Right to Fight Part 1: Feminist Gains in MMA
Fighting for the Right to Fight Part 2: Covert Gender Disparities
Fighting for the Right to Fight Part 3: Blatant Sexism Tolerated

Ouch...I am still sore! We had our 1st annual softball tourney with all the other real estate offices, the RCMP, and the Chilliwack Firefighters. It was a great event to raise some money for charity, and spend some time with those who are involved in the city. The RCMP team won the trophy, they were an excellent team and played really well. Our RE/MAX team did fine, we won 2 out of 3 games. With that success comes a little pain, and that pain is in my legs, butt, arms and shoulders.
So if you come into my office and I'm laying on the floor very still...don't call 911, I'm just a baby :)
Your Chilliwack Realtor,
Kyle Hislop

August Market Report
This is your happy home specialists bringing you the Real Estate Market Report that has been compiled from data that is distributed from the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board.
Another strong month is behind us and all indicators are that the market is now on the move and people are taking advantage of fantastic interest rates and low prices. We are definitely witnessing signs of an upward movement in sales prices. Buyers seem to be responding with more confidence which is driving sales in an upward direction.
Over 52% of the residential sales that occurred in the month of August were in the price point of $275,000 to $500,000!! This is up from last month which saw the largest amount of residential sales between $225,000 to $400,000. Sales in the price point of $400,000 to $500,000 increased by over 30% from the month of July. This is what we have been waiting for...
Average days to sell dropped to an average of 64 days down from 72 last month so that tells us that the market is responding. We hear it loud and clear.
Total residential sales increased in dollar volume by 19% and the amount of inventory on the market is down 36% from the year prior. That is the trend that we have been experiencing this year and it is continuing which is really good news.
We are looking forward to an excellent Fall. The media seems positive but they don't seem to understand how good it is here in Chilliwack. Well to us it is big news and we are excited to help families get into the best homes for the best price in todays market. Call us anytime if you would like more specific market information.
Talk to you next month.

Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board Statistics for July 2009 as interpreted by HappyhomesBC
Chilliwack had a major heat wave reaching temperatures over 35 degrees !!! But there was another heat wave and that was the Real Estate Market. Hot hot Hot!!!!
We are feeling the heat and we are fired up about it.
The total value of residential sales increased almost 42% compared to last year and the amount of units that sold also increased by the same basic number which means that prices have stabilized and there is a major increase in market activity.
Total inventory in the Chilliwack and District Real Estate board decreased from 2008 by almost 30%.
There are less than 50% of the townhomes on the market today than there were last year....
The number of days on the market for residential homes is in the 70 to 85 day range which is a little bit longer than last month. That tells us that the really good deals that injected the market a few months ago have been snapped up and now people are pricing realistically but have just taken a little longer to react. The second layer of homes are now selling which is good - good - good news for everybody.
60% of all the sales that took place were in the price ranges of $225,000 to $400,000. That is the hottest price point. If you are priced in that area then you should be getting a lot of action on your home.
This is really balanced market right at this point. This is a good time to sell and more importantly - This is a great time to buy right now. Did I mention that this is a great time to buy??? If I forgot to mention before - THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY!!!!
The market is now in the incubation stages and we will be experiencing some market changes that will begin the next wave in a short period of time.
This is what you have been waiting for....Right now is it.
This is HappyhomesBC signing off with your monthly market report for July 2009. Have a good summer.
