One of my all time favorite places is Fort Langley.... the Birthplace of British Columbia! This little village is nestled against the Fraser river's Bedford channel. Minutes from Langley and 45 minutes from downtown Vancouver.....and the allure of this place in Autumn is undeniable....

Fort Langley Community Hall
A landmark building in the historic village of Fort Langley, this heritage-designated two-storey hall was built in 1931 by volunteers and continues to be community-owned and maintained today. The hall serves as a rental facility for private functions, weddings and meetings, as well as housing the Fort Langley Branch of the Fraser Valley Library and the Fort Festival of Performing Arts.

Birthplace of B.C. Gallary -The Birthplace of BC Gallery is dedicated to the promotion of local talent, the commemoration of Langley's place in British Columbia's history.

It used to be The Marr House - a gorgeous Victorian Tea House - and where I had my Wedding reception once.......a long long time ago.....:-) Now its the White House.. an adorable little white house filled with pretty white things for your home. Cheryl, the owner, has renovated the MarrHouse to hold her shop downstairs and a bed and breakfast upstairs. Yes, that is white too! It is just stunning and well worth the drive from anywhere.

Gorgeous Victorian Architecture...

What village is complete without its White Chapel....?..St. Andrew's United.....I was married here in 1991:-)

Autumn Walk...

Mmmm.....

O.k. call me weird.......but I love walking through cemeteries and 120 year old Victorian cemetery has the most amazing gravestones and epitaphs...

In 1915 the CN Station designed by the Great Northern RR it was bought by the CNR in 1918. Today it houses Fort Langley Artists Group in the baggage room and has a small museum in the ticket office and waiting room..

This year November 19 - will mark B.C.'s 150th Birthday... Come to the Fort and Celebrate Our big day! BC turns 150 years old and it all started right here. On November 19th, 1858 Governor James Douglas read a proclamation in Fort Langley's Big House declaring the territory a British Colony. Celebrate with us the birth of British Columbia at Fort Langley. Enjoy the BC 150 theatre presentation, tours, and more!

Non-motorised Victorian parade through the Village begins the celebrations at 1.30 pm followed by official ceremonies, and fun stories with hot chocolate around the bonfire inside the Fort palisade. In the evening a Victorian Grand Ball will allow people to show off their mid ninteenth century garb and relive that era through the dances and frivolity of the period! See you there..:-)
