What's Yellow and Black & White All Over? - Home Staging Vancouver - Before & After Photos

My company, Exit Stage Right, Vancouver Home Staging, had the pleasure of staging another condo in this new-build apartment tower. Home Staging North Vancouver-Before & After PhotosThis unit is pretty small, so making the space look spacious and yet have multi functions was paramount. The demographic for the building is very mixed. There are older buyers who are gravitating towards the more expensive units and penthouses, and then there are the younger crowd, just getting in the market, who are happy with a smaller, less expensive unit.

For this condo, I went with attracting a young, hip, happening crowd. Ironically, I used some mid-century modern pieces, such as the LC1 chairs by Courboisier, but hey, what's old is new again. These are classic pieces of furniture that look sleek and don't take up a lot of room. I brought in texture with the black and white cow-hide cushions, and added edgy artwork. I'm happy to report that this condo sold within a couple of days, while other vacant condos are still unsold. Staging makes a huge difference in speeding up the sale of a condo.

Here are some before & after shots of this staged and sold condo.

North Vancouver Home Staging - Lower Lonsdale "Before & After" Photos

My Vancouver Home Staging Company, Exit Stage Right, was very happy to stage this vacant townhouse, located on Lower Lonsdale in North Vancouver. The location for the townhouse is fantastic, situated only one block from the Lonsdale Quay Market, and a quick Sea Bus ride away from downtown Vancouver. Everything is within walking distance.

North Vancouver Home Staging-before & after photosThe townhouse itself looked pretty stark, bare, and uninviting with no furniture, colour or life to the property. The beige walls and empty, cavernous space was not very appealing to a young, urban professional or couple, who are looking for a certain lifestyle. Enter Exit Stage Right! Alright, I will admit that I will be traveling off to Paris this weekend, and was perhaps influenced by the excitement my future trip holds. I couldn't help myself. I went with a Euro-Parisian theme. Can you spot the Eiffel Towers?!! To me, there are many parallels between this townhouse and an apartment you might find in Paris. Because Lonsdale Quay Market is so close, you could very easily shop for fresh produce every day of the week, just like the Parisians. Also, around the corner are some wonderful bistros and restaurants, including Italian, Greek, French (!), Japanese, Irish and British/Canadian fare.

By adding a little "ooh la la" to this townhouse, we are able to capture the sophisticated buyer who is looking for a little slice of Europe in the heart of Lower Lonsdale. Of special note: the townhouse right next door is also for sale. The owners of that townhouse have not staged their property property for sale. It is slightly bigger, with a higher price tag than the $750,000 for this townhouse, but it will be interesting to see which property sells first. I'll keep you posted on the developments.

Canada Day Parade - North Vancouver, B.C. - July 1, 2011

Canada Day Parade - North Vancouver, B.C. - July 1, 2011

This year's Canada Day Parade in North Vancouver, celebrates Canada's 144th Birthday. Although the weather was dull and overcast, the rain held off, and we spectators were privy to a fun, community event that makes us feel proud to be Canadian and North Vancouverites, all at the same time.

Canada Day Parade - July 2011 - North Vancouver

We gave a big round of applause to the motorcycle police. Heaven knows the police have gone through enough after the antics of the latest and hopefully last Stanley Cup riot. We also were treated to the blood-stirring sounds of bagpipes, marching bands and ethnic dancers. The local firefighters came out in full force, with many of their trucks lined up in the parade.

Here are a few photos captured from this morning's parade. HAPPY CANADA DAY!

Lonsdale Quay Market in Lower Lonsdale, North Vancouver: Something Fishy's Going On

The Quay is home to some wonderful seafood shops, and your first stop should be The Salmon Shop. Located at the south end of the Quay, The Salmon Shop boasts some wonderful, freshly caught salmon and other sundry fish. This shop looks, feels and definitely smells authentic. It's the kind of place where you would expect Captain Ahab to wander by, or where the guy behind the counter would hum "I'se the Bye" under his breath. There's a fabulous array of fresh, locally caught Digby scallops, wonderfully thick chunks of freshly caught crab, and salmon so large, it could feed an army.

The Salmon Shop offers lots of fresh Salmon, as well as the B.C. Famous Barbeque Sauce

I told these fellas to look "snappy" and smile!

Across the hall from The Salmon Shop is a wonderful seafood store called Screaming Mimi's. How can you possibly go wrong with a seafood shop that has a giant Marlin hanging from the rafters. This shop seems to cater more to the shellfish lover, and this lover is certainly interested in smacking her lips around a nicely simmered muscle or two, doused in butter and wine. (Hey, I'm talking about seafood here...). There's a live crab tank for those who take the meaning "fresh" to a whole new level. Just watch out! Read the sign: don't stick your fingers in the tank! Something crabby just might want to jump up and pinch you.

Now there's a Warning Sign if ever I saw one!

Another joy at Lonsdale Quay is admiring all the beautiful, floral arrangements and live orchids available. Once you've picked up the salmon for dinner, you'll need to bring your sweetheart home a nice bouquet of colourful flowers for the dining table. Flowers add so much colour, life and joy - why not?

Salmon - check. Flowers - check. What's missing? Oh yes, a nice, chilled bottle of local B.C. wine to wash down the superb meal with. Simply wander over to The Artisan Wine store, and pick up a couple of reasonably priced, local bottles of B.C. wine. There's a nice selection at very reasonable prices.

It's easy to impress your friends with a meal to remember, all locally gathered at the Lonsdale Quay Market. Oh, and don't forget dessert... And tell them Sally Thibeault, Sally Brown and Sally Weatherley sent you! Bon appetit!
