Canadian Imperial Bank comes to Airdrie

Airdrie Realtor - Bill Jones - HomesbyJones.caWhen I moved to Airdrie Alberta in 1981, we had a population of 5000, a Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Nova Scotia and Alberta Treasury Branch, but alas, no Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) which I had dealt with for a decade in Calgary. Now, finally after another almost 3 decades Airdrie will soon have a CIBC branch on Main Street, making the city home to all of Canada’s major banking institutions. The 5,000-square-foot banking centre will be located just south of Centre Avenue. The new branch will offer clients full-service banking and advice six days a week when it opens in late summer 2010. “CIBC is committed to investing in Airdrie’s long-term growth and in offering our clients an exceptional banking experience,” said Mike Stevenson, CIBC’s senior vice-president of Retail Markets for Western Canada.Airdrie Real Estate - Bill Jones - HomesbyJones.ca “Our new state-of-the-art branch will be open evenings and Saturdays to give clients greater banking flexibility and more opportunities to talk to a CIBC financial advisor about achieving what’s important to them.” The new branch will feature large, barrier-free banking facilities, including sit-down teller stations and two Automated Banking Machines (ABMs) installed at wheelchair accessible height with headphone jacks for audio access; grab bars for mobility assistance and brighter lighting. The branch will also offer a drivethru ABM. “In addition to building a physical presence in Airdrie, we are also looking for great people to join our team here,” said Stevenson. “We encourage exceptional candidates to visit our online career site to apply.” With 1,073 branches, CIBC clients have access to one of the largest branch networks in Canada. The new Airdrie branch is among 20 new or expanded locations announced by CIBC, March 10.
