April Showers...

I've heard the April showers bring may flowers bit all my life. Without the rains there would be no bountiful floral harvest to enjoy. How sad would that be, I ask you? Pretty sad indeed.

I just have one little itty bitty question. If April showers do indeed bring May flowers, does it matter if the April showers are FROZEN? We woke this morning to find a beautiful white blanket of snow covering the ground.

As if that wasn't bad enough, Mother Nature was, and is, dropping snowflakes like, well, Limbaugh does Oxycontin. It's everywhere.

This snow day message was brought to you by... well, me silly.  Have a great day and be safe out there.

That is our backyard, which only yesterday was snow free. When life gives you lemons, go make lemonaide, right? So since Mother Nature gave us snow, I'm going to go make snow cream. Yummy!

Hey Jesse, It was good speaking with you earlier. You got TLW all excited. What's up with that? Here's the view from my back yard today:

Broker Bryant's office

Hi again Jesse...

Don't mind him he's just rubbing it in :)

He's jealous because you amused me :)

TLW...ROAR!

That's just cruel Bertha... That is just cruel.

It was great talking to you and TLW as well... always good to connect with friends.  Now if you can ever tear her away from the pool you'll have an open invitation to come play in the snow anytime... or summer, if warm temps and sunshine is your thing. ha

TLW - If that crazy gold suit isn't enough to amuse you, I know the hat will do the trick.  I'm a natural clown, what can I say?  It was good to talk with you today too!

Jesse - Looks too cold for me, but gorgeous. I'm paying my first visit to Alaska on a 7 day cruise this summer. Can't wait!

Jesse,

Nice post!!! BTW, why did you change your 'birch tree' blog look??? Thanks,   Fran

Aw geez, there you go making me THINK again. UGH! Next thing I know you'll be asking if the snow falls in the dark of night and there's no one there to see it......

Jesse, Wow, still snowing??  I don't know how you do it!  Good luck and let us know what those frozen April showers bring!

Tom - You'll love it.  That trip up the Inside Passage is simply stunning.  Are you taking any side excursions?  If you make it to Fairbanks (or Anchorage when we're down there this summer) let us know.  We would love to say hi.

Fran - Thank you, kind sir.  I changed the birch tree look because it was slowing the page for some folks.  I didn't notice it but others were saying it was taking a while for it to load.  I still need to play with it a bit.

Colleen - LOL - Hmmm... wow, that's deep. :)

Roberta - Still snowing... and I don't know how we do it either.  We're leaving for a little getaway and I would really rather not camp in the snow.... but the MH is packed and ready to go, so we're going come heck or high water... or is that heck or deep snow?  hmmm.

Jesse,

I asked because I'm having the same problem with my stadium pic...I'm debating whether to scrap it and replace it with a simple coordinating color strip olr what??? Thanks,   Fran

Jesse:  I can't believe it's still snowing there!  I'll tell you what--I'm in need of some help here, so why don't you come down and work here for a couple of months out of the year, then head back to resume business when the snow stops!!

Debe in Charlotte

Hey Jesse,

Yep would be my guess. Although it does look beautiful. I won't rub-it-in like BB with that beautiful photo, but we have had unseasonably warm weather here too in So Cal, upper 90's. Biked at the beach on Sunday.

Fran - I don't think it slows down all that much for anyone using high speed, but I do notice it.  What made me think about it was when I was using the satellite phone in the motorhome last week, which can be torturously slow.  All those folks using dialup could have a nice delay waiting for things to load... that might be enough to make them close the page and move on.  Can't have that. I like the look, but speed is more important... to me.

Debe - You and me both.  They say it's supposed to snow more tonight and tomorrow.  Yuck.

That's a tempting offer.... Kathy misses the beach and I doubt it would take me long to get used to it again.  We could always go up and visit our buddies in New Hampshire when we needed a snow fix, huh? :)

Limbaugh does oxycontin?  It was 95 here in Mesquite, my flowers are already bloomed and fried!  Wish I had TLW's pool.

Wow Jesse. We get about 2 days of the white stuff around here if we are lucky. Gonna be in the 80's today. I'll send you a can of sunshine and heat.

Hi Jesse and Kathy, Of course it doesn't matter if it's frozen. Alaska is a beautiful state and in the summer when the snow melts, there's many gorgeous flowers and huge size vegetables because you have almost 24 hours of day light.  Awesome state.

Here we experience something we call "the onion snow." I think it refers to late spring snows that saturate the ground as they melt.

The last snows are not fun, not like the beginning of winter. And I am sure you are tired of it. Do you really have rain in April? WHere we lived, when back in the Arctic, April was a special month. It was the only time of the year when the skies were clear. Out of the whole year only in April you have that./ Winter is usually in full swing, tempreatures at -30 -40, but clear skies let the sun. The days are already getting linger and it is still light after 10 PM going soon to a full Polar day. The bus drivers put on sunglasses, because the reflection of the sun from the clear white snow is unbearable.

It is one of the most beautiful times in the Arctic.

But after a long winter, this pool is cruel. What is is, Olympic size one? I am the lucky one, I do not have to take care of any of that any more. Get down from my 6th floor and there are two pools right here and two more in the complex.

Funny, I sometimes still feel like I am on vacatin from the Arctic, so I enjoy it here more.

Wishing you...good weather

Jesse,
You need to get on down to NC where we will have temperatures in the 80s today and we do have May flowers! Sorry to rub it in!

Jesse, life is definitely different in Fairbanks : )

Hello Jesse, incase you didn't know I am visiting family in Iowa this week. I was hoping for some wonderful spring weather....well this morning I woke up to cold rain and gray. Not snow but still not spring like weather. I feel your pain.

We went camping about two weeks ago thinking that the April showers would be over also, but we certainly didn't expect the latest snow on record at the ocean when we went.
