The weather is here.... wish you were beautiful

Fishing Alaska Style

Fishing rules to live by Sorry folks, I couldn't resist. The sun is shining with only a few clouds in the sky - for now. It's supposed to rain later today and tomorrow but it won't matter. The worst day of fishing beats the best day of working, right?

We made it down to our favorite spot on the river without incident and have even been so lucky as to have the place to ourselves. No doubt that will change tomorrow but for now it's peaceful and just about as close to perfect as you can get.

One of the attractions that have kept us in The Last Frontier for so long is the abundant opportunities to get out and enjoy some of the most beautiful country on earth. Fishing, hunting, boating, hiking, camping, off-roading, flying, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, skiing, snowmachining... you name it and it's all right here in our very own backyard.

Ready to find your piece of The Last Frontier to call home? Contact us online or call 907.699.6024...

Just give us 'til Monday to call you back. We've gone fishing.

Looks like a great place to be, maybe someday I will make it there, save some fish for me.

Just rub it in.... LOL

Wow, Jesse! It looks like a beautiful place!

JESSE, My husband works for an airline and several guys that he works with are building what will be retirement homes a few hours from Anchorage.  My husband is going to go help him build his house for a few days in July and then of course they are going fishing.  I will be the only one in our family that has not made in to Alaska.  Our son went in the 5th grade our daughter is a flight attendant and flies in ever once in a while so I guess I will be due.

Jesse,

I'd rather be blogging fishing!!! :) Thanks,   Fran

Hi Jesse...I wish I was beautiful too!

Aside from that, I am happy to know you are having wonderful weather.  We are too!

Enjoy!

Kathleen

P.S.  You can take the last part of your title two ways.  Of course I choose to take it not the way you mean it!

Beautiful day in your neighborhood, Jesse.  What a neighborhood!

What did you catch?

Jesse: You crack me up. You might not know this, but I love to go fishing. I rarely do it because I rarely have the time. But let me tell you, there is no better feeling in the world than watching your line sink and feeling that tug. OK, maybe second best thing. But still.

My DD doesn't believe this photo is from Alaska. We were talking about vacations; I mentioned Alaska. She thinks I am CRAZY! Only snow up there, she says. Oh, but you are wrong, I say.

Thanks for sharing.

thats what my hubby says about Golfing...The worst day of Golfing beats working!

I'm ready to come...you have room for another big rig?

Jesse...

Sounds like you are living large. Have a great time, and we'll save a beverage for when you get back!

Jesse, I've always liked Alaska's last frontier slogan. So much great nature in your backyard. Fishing is just a great way to unwind and if you can wade into the water as well, wow, what a treat. Enjoy your relaxation time.

Jesse - Reminds me of my hometown ... Clarion, Pa.  I love nature man.  I just do.

Ok - I didn't need to see that picture!! I am just screaming to get up there fishing!!! I have a rod here that I use in my backyard to practice. One of Jay's guys caught his first King a couple weeks ago at Ship Creek, about 28lbs. The winner of the derby was like 42lbs! Jay goes about 4 times a week because like you say - just out the back door! I am off to look at airfare!

It must be amazing to have so much in your back yard.  When I think of Alaska, I always think  of the Alaskan Iditerod dog sled race and the great serum run.  I guess it comes from the pups that i have - straight from the Alaskan Tundra.

JESSE - I've never been much of a fisherman, but I have been intrigued with fly fishing ever since I saw "A River Runs Through It."  I'll have to try it some day (maybe in Alaska with you as my tour guide).

This is one of my bucket list things to do...To fish in Alaska and now I know who is going to take me...

I must admit, I am jealous.

It was a mere 109 today in Sunny Arizona.

Jesse, I do admit that AK does have some of the most beautiful country on this planet. I have been there several times and if it were not so damn cold in the winters, I would buy a house and move there...

Jesse,

That is one B U T FUL spot.  I only have one question for you and that is what are you gonna do when the North Pole melts as predicted for next year?

Don R.

Jesse, it looks wonderful!  My wife would be jealous...she loves to go fishing!

Jesse:  I love the picture in this blog.  I wish I were there.  Environments like this remind me so much of Dad.  He and I used to go fishing every year on the opening of trout season here in Virginia.  When I traveled to Alaska, I was flooded with memories of my Dad.  He would have loved the Last Frontier.

But did you catch anything????  It is beautiful and hopefully I will get there one day.  Have a great time.

Hi Jesse,

This looks wonderful to me! Salmon fishing in Alaska is on my "life list" aka bucket list. Maybe some day???

Jesse, make room for 2 big rigs!  I am coming for a visit.

There is absolutely nothing like spending a vacation getting outsmarted by a fish!  :)

Amanda, slow down!  I've been chasing you all over Active Rain for the past 10 minutes!  Where we headed now?

Nanny nanny boo boo, you can't catch me.

Jesse- any salmon in that stream? I hope your weekend was restful. Monday, back to the grind!

Jesse, we need you to get back in here, buddy.  There is action in the bullpen.  Don't worry, the stapler is loaded.

Bart - Will do!

Linda - haha.  I'm already paying for the long weekend... We're leaving again Thursday so I can survive a few days of work. :)

Marchel - That's just not right that you're the only one that hasn't made it up here.  Come up with your husband in July!

Fran - I'm telling you.... that's it in a nutshell!

Katlheen - You, my dear, are beautiful!

Elaine - The salmon are running... wanna come up and go fishing?

Elizabeth - Someone has to keep you entertained, right?  I have work I should be doing.... but thanks to a brilliant assistant we can manage to sneak off for a few days every now and again.

Debbie - Come on up...the weather is GREAT. It was 84 the other day!  No snow for at least a few more weeks. :)

Monika - Jay has a point!  We always have room for another big rig.  Pack your gear and head north!  We'll be ready anytime you are.

Richard - Alright, I'm back... where's my beverage?

Gary - It was a great few days... so much so we're about to repeat the experience in a different fishing hole.

Jason - Pack your bags and head on up.  We've got nature coming out of our ears.

Jo - Sorry about that.  It was so beautiful this weekend. Ship Creek is darn near literally right out Jay's back door.

Ruthmarie - With those babies of yours you need to come experience Alaska at least once.

Adam - One of the guys that was with us this weekend wasn't much of a fisherman either... until we took him out and he landed a 240lb halibut.  He's been hooked ever since. Our tour guide services are always available...  come on up.

Todd - Sounds like a plan.  Salmon, trout, halibut, or Pike... you name it and we'll go tear 'em up.

Gary - 109?  Yikes.  Glad I missed that.

Michael - The winters can be brutal... I could probably live without seeing -60 again now that you mention it.

Don - I guess we're gonna put on our hip waders and go catch some fish. :)

Jer - Send her up.  We've got some fish that would knock her socks off.

Chris - I bet he would have.  Kathy's dad never made it up here and I know he would have fallen in love. Maybe you can come up in his place and do a little fishing for him. :)

Paddy - Absolutely.  We had fresh salmon for dinner both  nights and there's a good 10 packages in the freezer.  Yummy.

Lynda - You're welcome to come up anytime.  Ya'll come at the same time we're going to have to rent a tour bus.

Mandy - Pack 'em up and head 'em out.  We're ready for you.  There's a case of goose in the storage bay with your name on it.

Paul - Good luck keeping up...

Mark - We were catching them left and right.  We're back to the grind today but leaving again Thursday for some more play time.

Mandy - I'm here, I'm here.  Who the hell is causing trouble now?

That's a lot of Goose, Jesse.

Yea buddy.... that's just how we roll

We can be out of mayo.... we can be out of sense... hell, we can be out of diesel... but being out of goose is just out of the question.

(07/02/08 01:48PM) — Lisa Long

Have fun and thanks for making me smile, I loved your title! Lisa Long- Keller Williams Realty

We might look like yankees, but we're southern through and through. Running out of mayo is a cardinal sin. :)  Running out of goose will cause a riot.

Jesse, Looks like a beautiful place to be...thanks for sharing a little bit of it with us.

(07/28/08 07:45AM) — maks smith

It may be possible that the day is not good for fishing but the day is perfect for outing and enjoyment, really a lovely day.
