As always happens folks seem to forget how to drive when the snow shows up. REMEMBER, the brakes are NOT your friend. Slow down, take your time, give yourself a few extra minutes to get where you're going. It's not worth an accident.

YUK! Snow, a four letter word!
Jesse, what for the lower 48 is the beginning of Fall, with you SO far north, is the first onset of winter. I think I am going to enjoy your weather reports between now and March.
JESSE, I don't miss the white stuff. It was not ususal when we lived in Colorado to get our first snowfall as early as September. My elderly parents are getting ready to make their yearly migration to Arizona so I hope it stays away from Colorado until they fly south. My Dad is 91 and still driving them to Arizona. He is INCREDIBLE!!
So how did you get those picutures on the side of your blog? That is just too cute!! Did you notice that our tags are missing?
Hey Jessie,
Oh my gosh, what a difference a day makes! We're having the opposite, warmer than ususal in SoCal, it was 105 today...a little too warm for most of us.
BTW, Alaksa is on my list to see, your photos are always spectacular. I plan on it in 2009/10, one or the other.
People always want what they cannot have. I'd love some snow!
Oh no... come on down to paradise and I'll take you to the beach and we can pick up seashells! Poor Jesse .... ;-)
Jesse - We just pulled our boat off the lake to winterize it, but we're not quite ready for snow! It was 95 degrees today here in sunny Southern Oregon, but autumn rains are on the way I hear. Love your pictures!
OMGOSH!! That is the last thing I expected to read. It is still really HOT here! I cannot imagine. Heck...it hasn't really snowed here in the last five years...just a few teaser flakes. I'm jealous, but I bet I'd get tired of it really fast. Stay warm, my friend! GBU!
Jesse - with your photos you are not getting the sympathy you deserve. They are too good.
i know that there is beauty in every season, but I still shrug when I remember 10 months of white tundra with no trees, nothing. Only snow and wind. I can;t tell you how depressing it was.
You live in a nicer place, at least there is some natural beauty your eyes can rest upon, we did not have it.
Wouldn't it be great ot have seasons for one month, so you would have 3 springs, 3 winters, 3 summers, and 3 falls. Utopia, but so nice
Oh my gosh - I keep denying that we will be seeing that anytime soon - I am not ready
Wow! Jesse, it begins early for you....Your snow season seems to be almost 7 months long...We have about 3.5 months around here and its in the 50s-60s at night. I tend to like the cold and sometimes the snow. But that long a winter would test that to the hilt.....My HUSKIES however would be in Siberian Husky Heaven.
Love the new look btw!
What a great visual contrast! I'm looking forward to the snow, but FIRST I want our autumn - Our leaves have hardly started to change..........but I want to SAVOUR the next 6 weeks..........sometimes transitions come to darn quick don't they? :-)
What is this S.N.O.W. you speak of? What is a flurry exactly? I think I may have seen this in a movie once.
Thankfully, we do not get too much of the white stuff down here. Just mention the "S" word and everyone heads to the grocery as if they are going to be socked in for weeks. Nary a loaf of bread or gallon of milk to be had anywhere...
I'm not so ready either, Jesse. errrrr I love the snow the first snowfall of the year, then not so much.
Jesse ~ Already! I don't blame you - I'm not ready either! Just how many months do you have with no snow?
Jesse- luckily I moved to an area that does not see much of the white stuff..temp today is in mid 80's!
I am so jealous! I live 5 minutes from our local ski hill, and am dying to get my skiis off of the shelf and onto my feet...but alas, we have another 2 months to wait for a decent snowfall.
Great advice about the driving - it IS "transition time" from summer to winter - it's easy to forget the fact that winter driving is different.
Brookings seldom gets snow. Last year we had a couple skiftings but it melted within an hour. The only time I enjoy the snow is when I drive to it and play for a few hours and then drive back home!! I couldn't do it Jesse....I think I would be boarding that sailboat and sailing to warmer climes!
Hard for me to understand winter when it's a 100 degrees here in La La land.
JESSE, Your photography skills are fantastic and I want to be the bear kicking back on the log.
So let's everybody sing to the tune of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood---------It's a lovely day in the neighborhood, won't cha be my neighbor!!!!
Oh well I hope that you had a GREAT day in the sno

Jesse, what a clever idea to take these two pictures! Yikes! I was feeling pissy this morning because I had to put socks on to walk on the hardwood floors, I feel for you my friend! I'm not ready either. I don't relish the idea of trying to get J.J. to do his thing outside in the snow!
Jesse...
Ok so when does it stop snowing? In May? Too cold for me, my friend!
Great sunny days in south carolina is what I see all the way through October. I bet your not ready for that snow! But what a great place to be in your short spring and summer.
Hi Jesse,
Snow!?! The weather here in the Tar Heel state is beautiful, highs today in the mid 70s and predicted lows tonight should be in the upper 50s. Have you packed yet?
Jesse you are making me cry now. We had a cold snap here last night that tells me we will be heading slowly but surely in your direction but I couldn't do snow in September. I guess I have to visit AK in the summer.
Jesse, for you it's snow, for me it's rain. Not sure which I'd rather have a full winter of either. But I'm w/ you....definitely not ready for the change of season!
Hi Jesse, When I lived in MN, I was generally happy and excited to see the first snow fall. It lost its allure, however, come February.
No!
Why didn't you warn me I may not like the content of this post?!
Snow? Actually, lovely to look at - it was 105 degrees here yesterday. Like your new pic!
Jesse,
You be missing North Carolina again already?
I need a shower, after mowing grass...
I am not so ready either and I live in live in Washington! Stay warm buddy. it is gonna be a long winter!
Oh Jesse - where are you? I noticed you haven't told us how you placed those wonderful photos on the side of your blog. Love it!
I'll take snow any day over ice! Back in January of 2007 Missouri had inches upon inches of ice - I guarantee, not as fun as snow!
So Jesse,
What is your opinion on global warming? (LOL) Not really asking, but I just thought I would laugh at the snow you are getting while we sit here in our Oregon winter rain fest!
