It Official! The Alaska Permanent Dividend amount is $1281.00....

To every man woman and child who are Alaska residents.

This year 641,600 Alaskans are getting dividends; 668,000 applied.

About $821.9 million is being paid out this year to eligible residents..... $24 less than 2009.

You do have to have live here and apply for the dividend and sign your oath of loyalty to the state.

There are rules and regulations including time spent in the state each year.....

Military folks or people under a medical hardship can get a waiver for not being in the state....

The fund was created in 1976 as the trans-Alaska pipeline was being constructed.

The fund started with a 900 million dollar bonus from oil companies for the oil they found at Prudhoe Bay.

Alaskans voted in a constitutional amendment to set the fund up that could pay into the future for all Alaskans.

Voted for by the People and For the People!

The first dividend check was for 1,000 dollars in 1980.

Since then, earnings from the fund have paid out $18.8 billion in dividends to Alaskans, counting 2010

The first dividends will be paid Oct. 7.

More than 530,000 applicants will get a direct deposit into their bank accounts.

About 85,000 applicants will be mailed a check.
