MEMORIAL DAY - Auburn, AL remembers

On this MEMORIAL DAY, May 25th, everyone is invited to the Auburn Mayor's Memorial Day BREAKFAST at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center. This traditioanl event, now in its 11th year, honors our country's servicemen---the REAL American Idols...the unsung heroes who fought unflinchingly for our freedoms, the soldiers who sacrificed their lives, and the veterans who carry on the legacy with their lives, contributing their voice of remembrance and reason to their communities.

Tickets can be purchased for $20 each. All proceeds will be contributed to the Auburn Veteran's Memorial fund.

Following the breakfast that begins at 10:00 a.m., everyone is invited to attend a wreath ceremony at the Auburn Veteran's Memorial Monument, located at the corner of Ross and Glenn Avenues.

Mara-A fitting place of tribute to our brave men and women. Thanks for sharing. <SMILE>

Awesome my small town of Saline does a parade, and then a lunch at the VA. It is very touching and anyone in town turns out.

Hi Mara. It looks like Auburn is doing Memorial Day up right. We cannot forget those fallen military who gave so much for our country.

Mara, what a wonderful way to spend Memorial Day!  Good for your mayor!

Mara I hope you and your family had an awesome Memorial Day weekend!

Sharon - Thanks for stopping by.

Missy - You and your wonderful son in the service...have been in my thoughts and thankfulness today...

Gary - It was otherwise a pretty quiet and rainy day here, but the wreath ceremony was really nice.

Patricia - Food is a big draw to folks here, so the breakfast/fundraiser is perfect, followed by the wreath ceremony.

Bill - Thanks! A break of pace is always welcome, too.

Hi Mara!  Thought I'd stop by your blog to see what you've been up to lately!  It looks like you've been BUSY!  WooHoo!

I saw this post earlier and did not get a chance to stop and comment as I zipped through my reads for the day--but, your photos are wonderful and certainly give your reader a sense of being there.  What a wonderful tribute to our American heros to whom we should all be ever so grateful.

Have a GREAT weekend!
