A New Family in Daphne, Alabama

Christi and I saw this precious little family about a week ago, along Highway 181 at the pond on a farm site. I guess they lost their way home, because, really they should be in Canada, or some other place far north of here this time of year. Enjoy.

Here you can see there are two goslings - and, they are strolling away from me and my camera. I am quite a distance away, and using a zoom, but still...,they aren't comfortable with that. And who can blame them, really.

And off to the pond they go. Mom, dad and their babes.

This time of year, we get all kinds of traffic jams as ducks and ducklings waddle across major traffic arteries!  And everyone waits for them!  Sweet photos!

And boy, oh, boy, Pat, I bet you have some major, heavy traffic arteries up there.  I love it when we are courteous to the ducks, ducklings, geese (who honk their own sweet horns), squirrels, and all the babes of this world.

How sweet! There are big fines here if you hit one of those, or even ducks. Very nice to look at, such a headache for our baseball fields, corn fields, etc. But they are amazing creatures! Great shots!

Just last week as I entered Donald Trump's golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes I had to stop and wait for a duck to cross the street.  Nature has it's own rhythm--and I enjoyed the moment.

We have a lot of these little families around here. They seem to take refuge where ever they can find water and then stick around.

How cut starting off the day with a walk and back to the pond what a nice little family. Thank you for sharing with us.

Have a wonderful Wednesday,

Very nice! It's always a treat to watch a new animal family! Oh, some "Snow Birds" end up not going back! :-)

Andrea, they are really sweet. And they grow from fuzzy little fat things to geese in no time at all.
Norma, we have a duck pond at the end of a bay front drive here in town (that's another blog). Anyway, it is not uncommon to have to sit and wait a few minutes for the ducks and the sucklings and the geese and goslings to cross the street. We all wait patiently and snap pictures when we can...
Yeah, they do, JL. We love it. Or rather I do.
My pleasure, Kim.
Caron, we certainly have that in common. This is my first year being able to watch them. It is so hot here, they really have to adapt to the heat. So it was surprising when we found families who stayed this year.
Why yes, VB, I do love it when nature displays itself for our cameras. Thank you for the compliment. I'm waiting with baited breath for Russel's review of his new camera. Right now I have serious lens envy!
Silvia, bwahhhh. Too, too funny.
