Fairhope, Alabama has long been a haven for artists, visual artists, musicians, dancers, writers. Located on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, Fairhope is a southern city oozing charm, hospitality and the the easy slow pace of life in the deep south. once it gets in your blood, it is hard to get Fairhope out of your spirit.
Page and Pallette, an independent book store located in the heart of downtown, frequently hosts authors for readings and book signings. It is a wonderful place to hang out, even when there aren't any special events going on - which is rare. The coffee shop attached and on the corner of Section Street and De La Mare Avenue, the Latte Da, is a favorite spot for locals and visitors to gather and while away a bit of time, with a nice drink, something to read, and lots to talk about. Usually, there's a painter or two with an easel set up, working on a painting and chatting with passersby.

We've never been to Fairhope....looks like we'll have to add it to our list! Any idea how far it is from Gainesville FL? (I could look it up on mapquest but I just woke up from my nap-quest!)
Love your photo wallpaper.....is that taken in Fairhope? Inquiring minds want to know!
Coleen, I drove through your town so many towns on the way to Sarasota, and traveled there for concerts on the U of F campus. Bandshell anyone?!? What a life I had back then.
Gainesville is about a sixtyh of the way to Sarasota from here. So Tallahasee being four hours, you are probably 5? 5 and a half? But then again, I drive the backroads whenever I can, and skip the big I-10. To boring that way,
Yes, the wallpaper is the public pier in Fairhope. I was standing on the bluff overlooking the pier and the rose garden and the fountain and the bay. Mobile Bay. I love this place. Been here my whole life. Still love it
Hi Dedra, I will have to put Fairhope on my bucket list, as a matter of fact, my bucket list is getting quite large due to all this exposure to the US I am getting on AR! I love book stores and coffee shops, great places. And yours sounds wonderful!
Definitely put Fairhope on your bucket novel! Fairhope is one of the nation's best kept secrets, sorta. Frequently you can find articles in Southern Living Magazine, occasionally the New York Times, and Coastal Living. It oozes charm, but is so much more special than can be covered in a magazine.
