GRANTS MILL ROAD BRIDGE AT LAKE PURDY REOPENS

After over a year and a half of being closed, the repairs to the Grants Mill Road Bridge over Lake Purdy have finally been completed! The bridge was closed during December 2009 due to safety concerns. Grants Mills Road has been a shortcut used by an estimated 8,000 vehicles daily to get to I-459 while avoiding the congested traffic on U.S. 280. The bridge closure caused additional travel time and delays for commuters as well as fire and rescue responders to the area.
The long-awaited reopening of the Grant Mill Road Bridge was celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony September 6th and is now open to traffic.
