Birmingham Alabama MLS Residential home sales for the month of April 2009 increased over those for March 2009. The 1096 residences sold represented an approximate increase of 4.88 % over the number sold in March. However, sales for April 2009 were down approximately 22.82 % from those of April 2008. In 2008 there was only a .7% increase in home sales from March to April. * So, even though our numbers are down from last year, the increase from March to April this year is almost 7 times that of March to April of 2008. Unfortunately, not all agents get their listings updated in a timely manner. It is still early in the month and we will see more April sales being recorded as the days pass.
It is a great time to buy for those looking to move up, downsize and for first time homebuyers-- defined as anyone who has not owned a home in the last 3 years and investors. Interest rates are at historic lows and there are many homes on the market priced really well. Call me to find out how you can benefit from a move in this market. Also give me a call for information about the federal tax incentive of up to $8000 for first time buyers and how you can take advantage of it now.
