CONGRESS HAS EXTENDED THE HOMEBUYER TAX CREDIT

We are waiting for The President to sign this legislation. The following provisions will be included:

  • Eligible buyers now will have until April 30th of 2010 to sign a contract to buy a home.
  • First time buyers will still be eligible for a rebate up to $8000 (10% of price of home).
  • Current home owners who have owned their principal residence at least 5 years will now be eligible.
  • Current home owners will be eligible for a rebate of up to $6500.
  • Income limits are increased to maximum of $125,000 or $225,000 for married couples.
  • Maximum home value is $800,000.

So now everyone can benefit except those poor souls who have owned their home less than 5 years. Why was this group left out? I don't have a clue. The rest can now get their stimulus money. I like seeing stimulus applied to the average family. Let it trickle up. The banks, car manufacturers and big insurance companies have enough of our tax money already.
