Buying a home can be a daunting task. Because, most people only buy a home once every few years (or longer), we wanted to take the time to remind you of the steps involved in buying a home. This way, you can feel like you have some control of this home buying process.
We have identified eight steps to buying a home. These are:
1. Decide to buy a home.
2. Find a great real estate consultant.
3. Secure financing
4. Find your dream home.
5. Make a written offer and negotiate the price.
6. Open an escrow account. (Earnest Money)
7. Have a home inspection.
8. Sign the final documents, get the key, and move into your new home.
Step 1, Decide to Buy A Home. That sounds like a reasonable place to begin, doesn't it? For a lot of us though, we are really "just looking" rather than seriously considering moving or buying a new home.
Why is it that you want to find a new home? Has your lifestyle changed enough to warrant this type of investment?
Until you identify your NEEDS and your WANTS, you'll find it very hard to find, just the right home for you.
So, take the time first, to do just that, and then make the decision if buying a house is what you want to do right now.

It looks like you've got a great series going here. Good solid information for buyers. Wise buyers will give you a call.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post, No One Can Stop You, But You, and for making a comment.
Stephen - It sounds like it will be a good series. Great idea.
Stephen- Defining wants and needs can be one of the toughest parts. I saw an article recently that suggested to prospective buyers that they keep a home book with photos cut out of magazines that represented what was important to them in a home. I'm not sure how effective that might be, but it is certainly worth a try. This series is great for buyers. Most don't buy often enough to keep the steps clear.
Stephen, I got a lot of "just lookers" at my open house this weekend. They do need to get off the fence!
Dan, I think providing solid information is a good way to educate our buyers
Tom, I hope so... more than anything I just want to help educate my clients
Jennifer, that book idea is great. I know I hear of a lot of people doing that to picture thier dream home
Charles, if you bump the fence they will fall off. I caution you though, I cannot predict which way they will fall.
