To follow up on my previous post regarding distressed homeowners waiting until the last minute to contact a Realtor...
The house I was contacted about was scheduled for foreclosure sale yesterday. I was unable to find a buyer in the 8 days I had. Fortunately, however, I had talked about the house to everyone in my office. Yesterday morning, there was a printout on my desk from the owner of my company. It was a list of scheduled foreclosure sales. Imagine my surprise when I realized that the sale of the house I had been working with HAD BEEN POSTPONED!
I immediatley contacted the current homeowner to find out if they had been notified of the change. She had not been and had no idea that the sale was postponed. She spoke with her husband about it and they agreed to let me formally list the house in the MLS and market it as well as I could. I sat down with them last night to do the paperwork and got it posted in the MLS today. I have started an internet campaign and am working to get the word out.
I have just over 4 weeks until the next sale date. If we're lucky, they may even walk away with a small amount of money in their pockets to help them start over.
Anybody want to buy a house??
