Eureka Springs, Arkansas, The Swedish Community of Arkansas
Eureka Springs Arkansas is located just about an hour and 15 minutes southwest from Branson, Missouri. It's a great place to visit if you're wanting something more to do from Branson, Missouri.
Two things stand out to me about our trip to Eureka Springs Arkansas. The first is a place called Holiday Island, Arkansas which is on the northern side of Eureka Springs coming in on highway 23. This community as it is now, provides housing, a fire station, business park, medical center with about 2500 people in the community. When we were here about 20 years ago, it was a very nice timeshare resort. Now there are housing developments, an expanded golf course (18 plus an executive 9) and many other amenities provides by Holiday Island as follows:
The web site for Holiday Island is www.HolidayIslandArg.org and offers online access to their activities, calendars, amenity information, employment information, and a whole lot more. A link to the homeowners association is holidayintheozarks.org.
The area around Holiday Island is accompany by the 53,000 acre Table Rock Lake which provides a whole other set of activities. The fall also provides breathtaking scenic pictures of fall colors that provide Holiday Island with a reputation for its scenic beauty.
The second place that stands out for me is what is called the Great Passion Play. This event is like no other outdoor play you have experienced. The remarkable techniques used create the ambience will surprise you. I won't spoil the event for you, just to say, you must visit it if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed.
Happy Vacationing!

This town is a MUST see when you're in Branson! I loved it....
David - Sure hope you got some good photos of downtown. That town is full of fun history. I was just there in April. We thought we were just staying for the night, but wound up spending most of the next day there, too!
Kat, it really does have alot of personality! Thanks for commenting!
Marlene, lots and lots of history! I was there several years ago and happened to come across a movie being filmed there! Boy was that a mess going thru the main drag downtown! Lights, Cameras, everything seemed to be at a standstill. It was going on right there in front of the church! Lots of fun! Thanks for commenting.
