Gas Prices Continue to Slide Downward in Arkansas

The average price of gasoline in Arkansas continued its downward slide June 1, 2007, while a gallon of unleaded gas remained below the $3 mark in the Texarkana area. The average price of unleaded gas in the state was $3.08 a gallon, down a penny from the day before and down 10 cents from the record high set on May 22, 2007.

The national average also dropped a cent on June 1, 2007 to $3.18 per gallon, according to the AAA, formerly the American Automobile Association.

The state's priciest gas was in northwest Arkansas, where a gallon of unleaded cost $3.19 in Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers, and gas was $3.18 a gallon in Fort Smith.

In the Little Rock metro area, gas averaged $3.09 a gallon, while the Pine Bluff average was $3.12. In Texarkana, a gallon of unleaded was $2.94 a gallon - the cheapest of the state's metro areas. -- article reported by the Sentinel Record
