This picture of the old Plaza Theatre in Searcy, AR, also known by kids as the cheap ticket theatre is featured so nicely in this old photograph.
The band is in perfect order. But look above at the brick detail. And now look at the picture of the same building today. It has been updated and the street looks lovely. I love most the way they kept the brick architecture! In this picture we can also see how small the theatre really was!

What a great photo! That is so neat! The movie on hte overhead name is "Double or Nothing!" That was made in 1937.
Barbara,
When I was a kid the high school band would march past my neighborhood. They were such big kids. Then I was in high school, graduated and I realize they were not much beyond babies back then.
Read more about the band here.
The other movies posted are:
High, Wide, and Handsome (1937) with Irene Dunne, Randolph Scott, and Dorothy Lamour
Ebb Tide (1937) with Oskar Homolka, Frances Farmer, and Ray Milland
The picture may be fom the year I was born, 1936.
Wonderful then-now comparison, Barbara
Jim, that must be the date of this picture then! Thanks.
Steven, have you noticed now that people who are 30 years old look like babies!!
Don! Thank you for posting that info on the band. The names are there too!!!! I love the picture because it is so perfectly posed with symetry!
Barbara you know I love when you post the old photos next to the new pics and this is no exception ....very cool...peace zane
Zane, thanks! I'm glad you like old photos. I'm going to try to rustle up some more cars!
Hi Barbara,
great old and new pics! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Tony, thanks for stopping by! I love the first picture.
Barbara. that is a very sharp looking marching band! Bet they were always in step!
Barbara, from the brick perspective you are right, it looks like time has stood still. I'm amazed with the band members photo how uniformly straight in posture they all are. Almost like the military Attention command.
Patricia, I don't know about marching bands. I am totally not musical. In college, because I was in the visual arts they didn't even make me take music appreciation!
Gary, see note to Patricia. I've never hung out with a band so don't understand whether they have to be at attention. I just love the picture though.
