Several years ago my husband's mother was shopping in a flea market or a discount store and saw a lot of cheaply framed photos of people and things. She did a double take when she saw this picture. She bought copies for all of her children. I treasure it.
It was a copy of a photograph of her husband's father when he was a young man.....with his 6 brothers! They were lined up on this board for a posed photograph and they were all so handsome.
They were all dressed basically alike also, just as young people today dress.
So if Searcy Arkansas folks are looking at this you're seeing the Duncan brothers, with my hasband Rodger's grandfather in the center.

Love the picture. I swear I can see the strong resemblance to Rodger's dad, Vernon. What fun to find your family in a flea market! I was once in an antique store in Searcy (many years ago) and saw a bedroom suite that had belonged to my mother. I didn't know she had sold it, so was a little bit startled to see "my" furniture displayed.
All the Duncan brothers were handsome. (as in "All the Brothers Were Valiant".....) does anyone recognize that?

What are the odds that first, your mother-in-law would be at that flea market when that photo was there, that secondly, she would see it and third, that she would recognize her husband's father? It is an incredible story and a fun photo!
Anita, aren't they handsome guys. There must have been some special things about having large families like folks used to have.

Great picture! Sometimes it amazes me what you can find at flea markets and yard sales. I once bought a picture for $40 bucks that appraised around $600. Great looking picture, gave it to my wifes Grandma.
Barbara: What a great picture. So, tell me. Does this picture of the Duncan Brothers, complete with Rodger's grandfather in the middle, make all of Searcy related to you ? If not, you probably don't miss by much. Thanks for sharing.
It's clear from the photo... that suits were standard wear of the time... you can tell that these suits have been worn many, many times... without being pressed or dry-cleaned (did that even exist back then?)... and they were probably wool suits. (and not that lovely Italian Summer wool we're used to today... Worsted Wool... hot, hot, hot.)

Josh and Kathy, I bought a picture (painting) at an auction for about $30 and sold it on ebay for about $600! I didn't even like the picture very much and bought it in with other stuff. Those are happy experiences!
Karen Anne, these guys lived in the country probably about 10 miles or so out so they didn't get into town very much. Strangely enough, there are not that many relatives to my husband that we know of. I grew up in Georgia so I have none. His grandfather, the middle one, had several kids and they have all died except one, including my pa-in-law.
Steven, that is a sad but so true statement. Looking at those young faces makes me remember how fleeting youth is. : (

Mary, it is strange to go into a store and find your relatives photos. I always feel bad in antique stores when I see family pictures piled up. They should be treasured not thrown away. : (
