Curcumin helps treating prostate cancer!

Curcumin helps treating prostate cancer!

Most men don't realize that they are sitting on a ticking time bomb, literally! At the age of 50 there is a 50% chance that they have prostate cancer. At 60 years the chance is 60% ..at 70 ...70% etc.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer when I was 53 and had radical prostatectomy. Unfortunately, the cancer came back. The next step was 8 weeks of daily radiation combined with 9 months of hormone therapy.

The whole process is stressful and I decided to educate myself in a field that was quite foreign.

Prostate cancer has no cure per se so I decided it would be worth while to look the beast in the eyes to find its short comings.

I have come to the conclusion though that prostate cancer correlates strongly to diet and I have decided that I will put my thoughts down on paper and share some of my findings. I will elaborate around these later, but most interesting for now I think is the healing properties of Curcumin.

Curcumin is one of the active ingredients in Tumeric.

Researchers are finding that curcumin is a possible immune system stimulator and down regulates various proinflammatory cytokines and chemokines and enhance antibody responses.

M.D. Anderson researchers suggests ‘that curcumin's reported beneficial effects in arthritis, allergy, asthma, atherosclerosis, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and cancer might be due in part to its ability to modulate the immune system'.

These findings suggest that more consideration of curcumin is warranted as a therapy for immune disorders.

As I plowed through volumes of information about curcumin, I discovered that there already was substantial research undertaken and underway. Curcumin, to my astonishment, has almost magical powers slowing or healing many forms of cancer.

I will present some of this research with the hope that someone will find this useful and implement curcumin in their treatment regiment.

Today (2/15/2010) is the day I was declared free of cancer. LIterally, I came home 2 hours ago and I am extatic!! However, I am mindful of those who don't get such good news, so I will celebrate this first, and return later to share my findings.
