Chandler's link to light rail.
Chandler has begun construction of 20 new bus stops along Arizona Avenue and Country Club Drive in order to establish a direct connection to the new light rail. This $3.9 million project is funded through the federal stimulus money, and will be the Valley's second Bus Rapid Transit Line. In addition, there will be some reconstruction along Arizona Avenue to widen sidewalks, add bicycle lanes, and provide additional on-street parking.
The route will feature busses making about 40 weekday daily trips from a south Chandler park-and-ride lot at Tumbleweed Park to the Sycamore Light Rail Transfer Station in Mesa. The route is expected to be very popular with commuters, and provide an easy connection to municipal offices. The new Bus Rapid Transit Line service is expected to start in July 2010. I personally can't wait to use Chandler's link to light rail, what about you?
