I'm attending the RE/MAX International Convention in Las Vegas. Today, I went to a breakout session on blogging and learned nothing new, but got some reminders. Here is one: take your camera everywhere! I knew that, but somehow I've gotten lazy about it. So, post-convention resolution: take my camera everywhere.
(This blurry picture taken from my phone is what happens when I don't follow this rule.)
One of today's presenters was Linda Davis of Gales Ferry CT. She did an excellent job explaining the value of our "social network" here on Active Rain. Thank you, Linda.
Desiree Daniels -- all the way from New Jersey -- approached me prior to the panel session, having seen my post yesterday saying I'd be here in Vegas for the RE/MAX Convention. Desiree invited me to Diablo on the Strip for a drink with other Active Rainers. I was delighted to meet Carol Smith of Toledo, Ohio (and, yes, she voted before she came), George Tallabas of Boise (Nampa) ID, and Renee Burrows of Las Vegas -- who put the meeting all together for us out-of-towners. It was nice to do some live socializing with those I've only met electronically, as well as to meet some new folks involved with Active Rain. Thanks Renee!
Here's a link to my post about today's events in Flagstaff Real Estate and Community News.
Meanwhile, back in Flagstaff, my Flagstaff real estate team is hard at work. Thanks team!

Taking pictures with people you meet at seminars and convetions or just about anywhere, is a great way to network. You can use those pictures to create greeting cards and then send htem to the people. They usually wont throw them away because it has their picture on it!
If you want more info on how to do that... email me!
To your success!
Ann- How neet that you guys met. I forgot about your convention (maybe because I'm not with REMAX) but happy to read that it was/is good. Enjoy it all....and don't forget your camera LOL ;)
For me, one of the nice things about living in Las Vegas is that many of the big conventions come to us. Looking forward to meeting a few RE/MAX bloggers myself this week. Have a great time in Las Vegas!
Hi Ann - enjoy the convention. One of my clients is down there having a ball - say hi to Thomas Bagogloo from Halifax for me if you meet him! Have a great week and lots of fun. - Jason
I sure wish I was there with you and all the other RE/MAXers.
Learn lots and then tell us all about it!
Hi Ann. It's absolutely wonderful to hear that you didn't learn anything about blogging today in the breakout session. That validates the breadth of knowledge and experience you have gained here on the AR network. Yippeee! I consistently ask other agents in my office to join and tell them that the value of the inbound links, coupled with the wealth of knowledge freely shared is tremendously beneficial.
Vicki -- my thought EXACTLY! Actually, I did learn a tidbit about twiter -- I need to pursue learning more about that site. So many things, so little time!
Hi Ann: Do you know if a video was taken of this blogging "break out" session ? It sure would be great to have. A few months ago I watched a RE/MAX blogging presentation on RSN... and it was very much "less than average." Needless to say, I was disappointed.
I feel frustrated that I feel I know so little, and yet maybe I am selling myself short. With your comment on the breakout session, and my seeing this blogging presentation on RSN and being disappointed, perhaps I know more than I think I do. Yikes ! Thanks for sharing.
I stopped to read this post because I recognized that blurry photo of Linda Davis! Sounds like some great networking opportunities.
Ann,
I'm living vicariously through you! LOL What a great opportunity to meet what had been "virtual" faces until now!
Mike in Tucson
Thanks Ann! I look much better in a blurry photo. :-)
I wish there was more time for questions today. I know there were lots of hands still up when we had to end. I spent time answering questions of people who stopped me during the Welcome Reception last night.
Karen, The sessions are targeted for people who are beginners or haven't started blogging yet but there will be an audio tape available.
Karen -- I was sitting up front, so I did not notice a video. I'll bet you know all of what was said. But you can check RSN in a month or so to see if it's on the list of Convention videos. It looks like Linda herself has visited and told us that there will be an audio tape.
Hi Ann: Thanks so much. Right now I am the only agent in my entire office who is blogging. At first I wanted to "convert" everyone... but on second thought... why create all that competition... LOL. I'll help them with other stuff. Ann, thanks for sharing.
So, we here on ActiveRain can consider ourselves blogging experts? That's good.
It was very nice to meet you Ann! Sorry that top portion of Diablos was closed off for a private party. I guess I am fired for the next event :)
Ann: I watched the Opening ceremony on RSN at my office today. It's great that Dave's blogging. His techy guys need to put an RSS feed on it ! I hope you all have a great time in Vegas!
Ann, glad you went to the breakout session on blogging. Guess Active Rain is teaching more than we know. Nice to see Desiree, George and all the others are having a great time. Can't wait to hear about tomorrow.
Ann- I wish I could have made it, look forward to more posts about the convention from you as the week goes on.
Thanks for sharing .Look forward to reading about Day 2 and a post about all the great ideas you picked up.
Ann, glad to see this report live from the RE/MAX Convention. I was disappointed that I was unable to make it there this go-around. So, where are the rest of the pictures from your Active Rain get-together?
Christine -- I've now read Dave's blog -- I'm not sure it's a blog. Interested to see what others think.
Ann,
Looking forward to hearing more from your breakout sessions as I'm a newbie when it comes to blogging. I've learned so much already from the AR community and am like a sponge in soaking in all the information I can to improve my blogging skiils. I'm so bummed I couldn't get to Vegas this year but watched the "rocking" opening session at my office yesterday morning. I, like Karen Anne Stone, am the only agent in my office who is blogging and wish they could embrace the importance of what a blogging presence can not only give you but what you can give in return.
Ann - It was a pleasure meeting you and the others. I hope you found the convention as informative as I did.... thanks for joining us for drinks.
Thanks for the Convention update. Counld'nt make it this year!
