Gilbert has been ranked as the 22nd safest city in the nation, according to police statistics and USA Today. I don't think I need to describe how that can impact your family.

According to the stats kept by the Gilbert Police Department, there was less crime in 2007 than there was in 2006, 2005, and 2004. I didn't know that until writing this article. Considering the amount that Gilbert has grown since 2004, I find that amazing.

Stats don't mean anything to me unless you compare it to real life. So let's do a comparison of Gilbert crime to Chandler crime. Chandler is located right next to Gilbert and if asked, many residents couldn't name too many differences between the two. One major difference I found was in the amount of service calls to the police departments. From the Chandler Police Department page, you find this map with the info that there were 156,563 calls for service in 2006. On the City of Gilbert page you can find this map with total service calls being 57,577. In a previous post, I noted that many local residents did not perceive one locale being safer than the other.

One of my favorite links is the top collisions by intersection for the last two years. If you (or your teenager) is accident prone, it might be a good idea to make sure you don't buy a home right next to a high-chance intersection.
