According to an Msnbc.com article, quarterly data released Tuesday by Zillow, shows that 28.6 percent of homeowners with mortgages owe more on their loans than their homes could sell for.
There's currently over 11 million americans whose mortgage is underwater and with unemployment at 9%, it's just a perfect situation for more foreclosures to happen. According to the article a new survey found that only 52 percent of Americans still consider home ownership the American dream, while 48 percent consider it more of a nightmare.
