Happy President's Day!

Celebrate the birthdays of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, two of America's most popular presidents.

George Washington, America's first president (1789-1797), was also instrumental in helping to win the Revolutionary War, winning our freedom from Great Britain. Fun Fact: Washington may never have chopped down his father's cherry tree with his axe, or ever uttered the line, "I cannot tell a lie;" this may be the first urban legend!

Abraham Lincoln was our 16th president (1861-1865) and a crusader for the abolition of slavery, culminating in his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment in 1865. Fun Fact: An avid reader and wrestler, Lincoln only had about 18 months of official schooling and refused to hunt because he loved animals.

These two men were influential in the creation of the United States of America. Honor them on Presidents' Day!
