If you live in the East Phoenix Valley you have been eagerly awaiting the opening of the rest of the 202 Freeway. Well now the wait is coming to end as the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) plans to host an event they are calling "Roundin’ Out the Red Mountain".
This event planned for July 15th between 5pm and 8pm with the opening ceremony happing at 6pm. This event will mark the freeway opening and completion of Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway). This final segment between Power Road and University Drive in Mesa represents a much needed addition to help commuters get to East Valley places faster and save gas and commuting time.

I frequently travel to the Gilbert Area and I am just thrilled to have an easy north/south corridor at my doorstep. Many long time northeast Mesa residents have resisted this improvement but I have been anticipating this moment for years. See you on the Freeway!
This will shave a significant amount of time off the commute for many people- I can't wait to drive it.
This is definitely a PLUS for those of us living and commuting in the southeast valley. ;-)
Glad they completed the construction. In Tulsa, Oklahoma it seems we are always working on our roads and never making any progress.
Thanks for the welcome to AR.

We were really impressed with your freeways when we visited. The decorations really make them attractive. This will be a nice addition.
