Interested in Helping Foreclosure Pets?

A few weeks ago we posted about pets being left behind in foreclosures. Many of you commented on this about how sad it is. It is very sad and apparently the problem is happening more and more. Here is an upcoming event that might be of interest to those in the Phoenix area who love animals and have the time and space to offer any assistance for abandoned animals. The Arizona Chapter National Safety Council is planning to hold a course to prepare volunteers who are interested in serving as emergency shelters for displaced animals. The event is September 17-18 from 9am - 5pm at 1606 W Indian School Road in Phoenix. The fee for the course is $85.00. For more information call 301-258-3000.

Since the foreclosure mess started, our animal shelters here have been full. Unfortunately, that means that they can't keep animals as long as they used to, so many pets are being euthanized earlier than might otherwise be the case.

I adopted my Zoey on September 20, 2007, from the El Cajon Animal Shelter. She was an abandoned cat.
