Luck

"Luck," said the great baseball General Manager, Branch Rickey, "is the residue of design." How prophetic those words of wisdom always turn out to be. Another axiom in this same vain, the harder I work the luckier I get is also true. When you examine the life of those who have success, whether in business, sports, real estate, or whatever in life, you will find planning and hard work behind the "luck."

Next time you bemoan the fact of someone else's luck, take stock of where you are and what you are doing to make your own luck? You won't need a four leaf clover to make your own luck. Remember, "Luck is the residue of design."
