Friday Funnies: The 84-Year-Old Bride
"If a window of opportunity appears, don't pull down the shade."
The local news station is interviewing an 84-year-old woman who had just gotten married - for the fourth time. The interviewer asks her questions about her life, about what it feels like to be marrying again at 84, and then about her new husband's occupation.
"He's a funeral director," she answers.
"Interesting," the newsman muses. He then asks her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living.
She pauses for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile comes to her face and she answers proudly: "Well, I first married a banker when I was in my early 20s. Then, I got hitched to a circus ringmaster when in I was in my 40s. A bit later, I married a very nice preacher. And now, in my 80s, I've met a handome funeral director."
The interviewer looks at her, quite astonished, asking why she married four men with such diverse careers.
"Easy, sonny," she smiles. "I married one for the money ... two for the show ... three to get ready ... and four to go!"
