A workaholic refers to a person who is obsessed to work. It is considered as an unhealthy addiction since the addiction is for work, career, or a belief that they are the single person who can do the job right. Failing to do his tasks, the workaholic may think that he’s a failure or has little worth. This is as sign of insecurity or having priorities out of order.
Workaholics would consume most of their time at work or taking work home with them. Worst, they will often have little time for their personal lives such as hobbies, relaxation or family. They already forgot to balance their life because having it is not just a preferable desire, it is necessary for overall mental, physical, spiritual and emotional health.
Everything we do is affected when we are mentally, spiritually, physically, and emotionally well balanced. Having a well balanced life gives as the chance to perform better at our jobs, enjoy less-stressed relationships with our loved ones, lastly we can enjoy the purpose of life that God has given us and appreciate the beauty of it.
Despite the reasons, workaholism can be a severe condition that can lead to the failure and destruction of families, plus dangerous stress-related health problems.
We should be alert and begin to do some helpful interventions when we feel that work becomes the sole reason for our being, when it becomes the only thing we can think about, or the single reason that truly makes us happy.
