New Independent registered voters

I was reading the East Valley Tribune for Thursday, August 2, 2007(http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/ & http://www.evtrib.com/) today and this article by Paul Giblin of the Tribune was on the front page. The article was about the number of new voters who are registering as Independents instead of the 2 major political parties. According to the article the Secretary of State's Office said 53% of the voters registered between April 1 thru July 1, 2007 registered as independents.

What was amazing to me was that during this time period 39,800 people registered to vote in Arizona. That is a tremendous amount of registrastions which indicates to me that our young adults and people moving to Arizona are beginning to take politics more seriously in these difficult times. It also indicates to me that out young adults have been paying attention to what is going on in our country and state and they want to be heard and make a difference in where our future is going.

The other fascinating bit of information to me is that the number of people registering to vote (38,900) indicates to me that people are still moving to Arizona, which means they need a home to live in. Hopefully with this type of information we can pass this on to folks looking to sell their homes as a positive indicator that Arizona is still a fantastic place to live and buy a home. Hopefully a few of us can attract some of these registered voters and turn them into buyers to get the amount of homes on the market down and invigorate the market a little.

Thanks Bill. It seems after the last 2 presidents many people are looking for alternative political groups to turn to since it seems nobody can outright answer a question without going off on another angle to avoid the question. Times are changing, even here in the US.
