There are loads of things to do in July in Arizona - despite, or in some cases, because of the heat! There are traditional July 4th celebrations including an "only in Arizona" sidewalk egg frying contest! I hope that you will find something that is perfect for you. July 1 - July 3 - 2nd Annual Northern Arizona Barbeque Festival - Williams Visitor Center - If it is July it must be barbeque time! This festival features professional cooking teams competing in a Kansas City Barbeque Society championship on Saturday while amateurs follow the same rules to show off their skills on Sunday. July 4 - 20th Annual Sidewalk Egg Frying Challenge - Oatman - Can you really fry an egg on a sidewalk? For the past 20 years people have been flocking to this tiny town (population of 156) to compete in this contest. Teams are given 2 eggs and 15 minutes to see who can fry an egg to perfection using only solar energy - magnifying glasses, metal, etc. are allowed. July 9 - Western Arts Day - Grand Canyon North Rim - Starting at noon a variety of activities will take place in locations throughout the North Rim's developed area. July 15 - July 16 | 20th Annual Cornfest - Camp Verde - Downtown - There will be contests for “The Corniest Corn Joke” (which should be a-MAIZE-ing:), a “Corn Shucking Contest”, a “Corn Eating Contest” and last but not the least is the “Hog Calling" Contest. The King and Queen of Corn will be crowned as well as the winners of the other contests. And best of all there will be plenty of corn to eat while enjoying the live bluegrass music, beer garden, vendors and farmers market. July 16 - July 17 - 14th Annual Arizona Highland Celtic Festival - Flagstaff - Foxglenn Park - Put on your kilt and head up to the cool pines to play some Scottish games and participate in a tug-of war tournament. You can taste some whiskey, see historical re-enactments and enjoy bagpiper performances. July 16 - July 17 - 12 Hours at Night Mountain Bike Ride - Prescott - Pioneer Park / Brownlow Trails What better way to spend a night than riding your bike?
