Many buyers who come to the Phoenix Metro area to purchase a home have one predominant question. What city has the most affordable homes and where are the most expensive homes in the Phoenix Metro area?

Here's a list of the average annual price per square foot of homes sold in the Phoenix Metro Area, showing the most expensive areas at the top of the list down to the most affordable.

Keep in mind that this list is an average of a year's worth of sales. For example, this month's list is an average of sales from September 2010 to September 2011. Individual markets can change which won't be reflected as dramatically when averaged over a year, however, this is still a great rule of thumb for what the average values for a Phoenix metro city are.

Be careful. Don't assume that all homes sold in the listed cities should sell for the average price per sqaure foot. There will be communities within a city that are going to average higher or lower than the average sales price for that city, so let your Realtor be your guide when writing an offer!
