I have been a season ticket holder to the Arizona Cardinals since they built the new stadium in Glendale Arizona. You know which one I am talking about, because the last super-bowl was here in town. Do not get me wrong the new facility is state of the art. Its clean. air conditioned and fan friendly. Well about 3 days ago I get in the mail the package to renew my season tickets. Well in my section, my tickets went up by 25%. Now here is the problem with the tickets being raised. The Arizona Cardinals are a LOSING FRANCHISE. They have always been and will probably continue to be the biggest LOSERS in town. They still have not proved to the fans that they can even make the playoffs and depending on which football team shows up that day depends on if the game will be fun or not. I think if the Cardinals are trying to build a solid and loyal season ticket base, they should first concentrate on winning football games. My wife has already told me to renew the tickets. She is the biggest sports fan out there. So I guess we will be renewing, but not without some wine with my cheese.

Gary I get a lot of flack about being a Cardinals fan. Over on the east coast some folks don't even know who they are. But I for some reason cheer for the underdog and I will continue to do so.
One Loyal Cardinal Fan
Thanks for the comment,
We have a loyal flock. Not many of us, but we are loyal. I follow my lovable losers each year, but they sure hit my pocket book this year.
Gary it takes a lot of heart to be as loyal a Cardinal Fan would find necessary to put the big bucks to see them. You gotta have heart.
Oh my. We're hearing a bit of an uproar here also because the Detroit Lions organization raised their prices.
As long as people keep buying the tickets and filling the house, they will continue to raise prices. Gone are the days of going to games with a bag over ones head..people still go, still pay the prices, and yet still complain when they are raised.
Kris,
Long time no talk,
Like down in New Orleans "The Aint's",
Professional Sports is big money now. But your right, we are going to pay the price. What we will do for entertainment.
Gary I can understand it. As an avid Detroit Tigers fan I paid for tickets when it felt like there were only 2000 in the place. But I love my team, win or lose. However I must add, the Detroit Tigers did what they could to keep ticket prices at an affordable pace for most families during those losing years.
The Cardinals are re-doing star wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald`s contract. For the product that the Cardinals put on the field during home games this price hike in ticket sales is is not justifiable. As long as fans keep paying the inflated prices management will continue to raise prices. They raise prices in order to steady their net profit margin, but you cant blame them it is a business after all.
Eddy
You didn't mention what the prices were. As a NY Jet fan I really don't have too much sympathy for you. At least you don't have to sit in zero degree weather to watch your team get stomped on!
Eddy,
I hope the new contract works out with Larry, if they screw this up, since he has helped with turning this team around.
James,
I guess your right, its hard to put a price on a ticket with such a nice facility. I really would not enjoy going to games in zero degree weather.
When I was a kid I was a huge Portland Trail Blazers fan and continued to be through the late 90's then something happened. We started to hire what was known around the league as the "Jail Blazers" and I couldn't be a fan anymore. For 3 years, I didn't watch or listen to a game on the radio!
But, in the last two years we have gotten rid of everyone of those people including the general manager that hired them and build a team the community could be proud of again. I've since become a fan again and this season alone have been to 5 games and hope the franchise realizes that even if losing, if they build a team with character I will support them.
I know in the future they will win, unlike your situation. Instead of building a fan base by building a winning team, they plan to try to make it up in ticket prices and that will never work.
Our state decided to make more money for schools by raising the cigar tax by 50%, what happened? (I don't smoke and I don't recommend it, but the example works here) Well cigarette sales fell and so did the income from taxes. So the schools were actually worse off than they were before they tried their stunt. Two years later they repealed the tax, plus lowered it .25 per pack and they ended up making $4 million more in taxes than they were originally, because of volume! Maybe your team should try lowering the ticket prices and filling the stadium!
Gary---- the Cardinals have a promising but they just have to get it done on the field. Leinart is their quarterback of the future but Warner is playing great ball in his absence.
Eddy
I am sorry to hear about the Jets fan. BRRRRRRRRR. I guess we Cards fans at least have a nice new stadium to drink our $9 beers in. Oh and the tasty Arizona Dog!!! I too am a season ticket holder since the new stadium opened. My brother lives across the street so we get to walk to the games. Sure beats traffic. I was a little shocked to see prices went up again but what can we do??? Maybe win an extra game so playoffs are in reach?? We have the talent, now we just need to make it happen. As for the fans, they are great but I would like it to be insainley loud on opposing teams 3rd downs. It gets pretty loud but we want it LOUD!!!
Here is a cool picture of the Super Bowl at the Cards stadium.
Gary, sorry to hear bout the ticket price increase. I actually like the Cards, even though my 5 time consecutive nfc west champ Seahawks are in the same division. I really like the players they have there. They have great receivers and the rest of the star positions are filled nicely. No one should be able to stop Bouldin and Fitzgerald! Our ticket prices go up yearly also, but then we have a bit more success than the Cards do also.
